    Overview

Sniper Elite III is a third person shooter developed by Rebellion and published by 505 Games. It is a prequel to the previous game in the series, Sniper Elite V2. It sees the return of Karl Fairburne as he travels to North Africa to uncover a super-weapon project being developed secretly by the Nazis.

    Gameplay

The game is a third person action game, with a heavy emphasis on stealth. Players will need to rely on hiding from enemies and masking their noises in order to remain unseen. A single shot will put enemies on alert, and if multiple shots are taken from the same location, they will close in fast on the player's location. A last known position mechanic is used if players are seen, and running away and hiding are the only way to reduce the alert. Players can mask shots behind the sounds of airplanes, lightning, and other mechanical sounds in the environment.

As players get kills, complete objectives, and gather collectibles, they will gain XP and level up, unlocking new weapons and upgrades that they can use in their loadout. XP carries through all game modes.

    Game modes

    Campaign

There are 8 main story missions in the game, with primary and secondary objectives to complete.

    Challenge

There are two different challenge modes:

    • Survival - The survival mode can be played either solo or cooperatively online. Players battle increasingly difficult waves of enemies.
    • Overwatch - This asymmetric co-op mode has one player as the spotter and another as the shooter.

    Multiplayer

There are five different competitive game modes:

    Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch.

Distance King / Team Distance King - Players aren't awarded for the number of kills, but rather for the distance of their kills.

No Cross - A Team Deathmatch mode where players are separated from each other on the map, with no chance of close quarter combat.

    Trivia

English comedian and writer Charlie Brooker makes a cameo as a German soldier, to which he even motion-captured for -- however he is only available as a preorder bonus and does not appear in the base game. While Brooker doesn't also voice the character, he does still provide VO via radio recordings the player may encounter.
