History of the Galaxy
The Solana Galaxy is both the largest and most featured galaxy in the whole
Ratchet and Clank series, containing nearly 60 areas to visit. Many of the planets within the galaxy have come under threat throughout the series from the start, since
Ratchet's home planet of
Veldin was almost destroyed by
Chairman Drek, in the very
first game.
In
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, many of the galaxy's inhabitants were turned into robots, as
Dr. Nefarious attempted to eliminate all natural living beings. In
Ratchet: Deadlocked, Ratchet,
Clank and
Big Al are forced to take part in
Gleeman Vox's Dreadzone TV show, in the Shadow Sector on the outer rim of the galaxy.
The types and climates of the planets within the galaxy vary greatly, from the large, skyscraper filled Metropolis to the tropical jungle of Florana.
The galaxy is protected and ruled by President Phyronix. Although not directly involved in combat, he is responsible for organising missions, relying on Ratchet, Clank, the Galactic Rangers and his own daughter, Sasha. The base for the
Q-Force, the
Starship Phoenix, is also owned by the galaxy's defence force.
The Galaxy also has its own government, which determines laws and punishments, in one case, handed
Captain Qwark a 6 billion Bolt fine, after complaints were received about the personal hygiene products he endorsed. Although all planets are under the jurisdiction of the Galactic Government, some are owned and run by various businesses and companies such as Gadgetron.
Planets and Locations in the Solana Galaxy
Aquatos
The sewers on AquatosAn ocean planet in the Solana Galaxy. It was the home planet of the famed superheroine Hydro Girl and supposedly guarded by the Aquatos National Protection Force. The citizens of Aquatos mostly resided inside underwater bases, where vast networks of tubes and tunnels were found. The planet was completely covered in water so all life is underwater, it is unknown wether this has always been like that. The massive sewers of Aquatos were often crawling with Amoeboids, possibly stationed there by Dr. Nefarious.
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Aridia
Skidd stranded on AridiaA virtually inhospitable desert world on which all structures built there seemed to sink into mud. There was very little vegetation to speak of on this planet. The few inhabitants lived on Outposts scattered around the planet. Tar seemed to cover much of the planet. Factories were some of the main workable places there, because not much can survive in the odd desert filled with mud, Sandsharks, and other things.
- Ratchet and Clank
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Asyanica
Asyanacia CutyA city planet covered with buildings. The planet was mostly artificial, probably an asteroid built into a planet due to its good location.
Bahamia
A tropical world that many went to to retire. It is a refrence to Bahama. After the Bogia 4 incident, Gadgetron's legal department had been sighted here and had never since contacted HQ.This planet was never actually visitable but was mentioned in the first R&C.

Batalia
Grind rails on BataliaA lush rain forest world and the most heavily guarded planet in Solana. Dominated by massive forts and huge arsenals of weaponry, it is the perfect defense.
The only weak spot in Batalia's forces were its grunts. Unused to a life of warfare, they were poised to desert at any moment. The weather on Batalia was very wet, with constant heavy rain.
Bogia 4
Also known as
Trachea Five, is an uninhabited swamp world that somehow received it's own Gadgetron outlet. Engineering blamed marketing, marketing blamed legal and legal were on vacation on Bahamia. This planet can't be visited due to that theres absolutely nothing of note on the planet except the Gadgetron Outlet.

The planet can only be reached via a teleporter in Silver City on Boldan, that became active at 3:00 AM - so only actual insomniacs would ever discover it.
- Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Calzon
CalzonA planet in the Solana Galaxy, presumably well populated, since there was a chancellor and a councel on the planet.
While Captain Starshield went on a routine visit to Calzon, the evil Baron Masseter had plans to destroy the planet with his giant space cruiser. However, Captain Starshield managed to destroy Masseter's ship seconds before it vaporized the planet. This made Calzon, like many other planets, grateful to Captain Starshield.
- Not refrenced or visited in any game, However, It did appear in a comic book that advertised Ratchet: Deadlocked
Catacrom Four
Catacrom fourCatacrom Four laid deep in the Shadow Sector and was filled with ancient ruins. In actuality it was a robot burial ground, so travelers had to be careful about robot zombies poking their heads above ground level and taking a swipe at them. Due to its status as a burial ground, Catacrom Four likely hosted only a minimal living population. Catacrom Four is full of surprises, both on the surface and beneath. It is also DreadZone's starter course and where Ace Hardlight killed Captain Starshield.
Challax
A technomite trooperA "not too hospitable" desert planet with several large mountains and very few plants. Unknown to most people, Challax was the home planet to the mysterious Technomite species. Challax is guarded by a mysterious defence fleet of space fortresses built by the Technomites, known as the Technomite Orbital Facilities. The Technomites, who have seemingly abandoned most other planets they used to live on, live in a small city hidden near the few plants of the planet. "Small" is a very literal word here, since the Technomites are around the size of a thumb, and the city cannot be accessed by those who don't have a shrink ray to shrink themselves.
- Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
Daxx
The Research CenterDaxx was the home of Dr. Nefarious's research laboratory, where the Bio-Annihilator and the Bio-Bliterator were built, amongst others such as the Rainbow Afrolizer. Gaspar
GasparA planet in the Solana Galaxy that is colored orange and red - from planetary orbit. It was covered with volcanoes and lava but kept itself balanced and inhabitable at the same time. Because it was a very large planet, it was used for many things.
Chairman Drek bought the planet for his scientists so that they would have a large environment in which they could work on building useful gadgets for the Blarg, as well as warships and weapons. It was home to a large part of the Blarg destroyer fleet.
Gemlik Base
Gemlik BaseThe

Glaciara
The ski ResortHome to the Ski Resort, this was probably the location where Clank defeated Maximillian and his Ninja Bots in his
Secret Agent Clank holo-vision series. While dancing, Agent Clank had to avoid many traps and dance Ivana into them.

HovenA planet in the Solana Galaxy. A desolate world covered with ice and snow, and is covered in ice mining facilities. It is here that Chairman Drek first tried to eradicate the planet from the map using the PlanetBuster Maximus, which was manufactured at the Hoven Bomb Factory by the Blarg. The water on Hoven is the coldest in the galaxy, and anyone who falls into it will be flash-frozen for eternity.
Game:
Hydrano
Qwark in the desertA planet in Solana that was half-water and desert. Klunk's secret base was also there deep underwater. Clank explored here to find the underwater base's coordinates and he also defeated Klunk here. The climate was arid, but only half of the planet was dry land because the other half was ocean, due to the dam that stretched across the entire planet.
Joraal Nebula
The Joraal Nebula, home to Zeldrin Starport, was where Dr. Nefarious had waited for ten years in his starcruiser, the Leviathan. Any ships that strayed too close to the starcruiser were disintegrated. This is where Dr.Nefarious refueled his starcruisers and also where he lived.

Kalidon
KalidonA planet long inhabited by Technomites. As Kalidon is a barren and not very pleasant location, it is not considered suitable for any permanant residence. Instead, the planet was used by the Technomites to be the site of the Mechanoid Factory, the source to a variety of the R.C.U.s. The planet's very thin atmosphere and low gravity, allows small asteroids to float just above the surface, which is why the planet is covered in craters.
- Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
Kerwan
The city of MetropolisA bustling planet that was home to the gigantic city of Metropolis. It is the most important planet in Solana being home to 3 trillion people and also the most featured in the series making an appearence in almost every game. In
Deadlocked, Sasha became the Mayor of Metropolis. it had undergone possibly the most drastic terrain changes ever seen in the Ratchet & Clank series. During Ratchet's first visit, Kerwan strongly resembled Coruscant from
Star Wars, with a surface that took on the appearance of a worldwide city. When Ratchet later returned, Kerwan was depicted as a lush, vegetated world covered in vast oceans. As the duo took off for Polaris it looked like a red deserty world even though Kerwan was not a desert world although it could have a few, it may had other terrain as well, like Coruscant from Star Wars, has mountains. In a commercial later viewed, Kerwan looked lush and vegetated again.

A planet resembling Maraxus could be seen in the sky from Stratus City on planet Kortog, indicating it is close to the Polaris Galaxy.
Marcadia
The Capital CityThe Solana Galaxy's seat of power, Marcadia was home to the Presidential Compound, where the Galactic President, the Galactic Government and most likely the Galactic Court reside. It was also the location of Galactic Rangers HQ. Its surface was mostly orange, so it was probably a desert world with limited vegetation. Capital City was a large beautiful metropolis, with many palace-like buildings with gilded roofs. The surface water was red. It was also hinted that it was the home world of the Cazars, intelligent,
lombax-like creatures that have sustained a democracy over thousands of years. This is likely because the buildings are reminiscent of modern-day parliaments and places of importance.
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Medical Outpost Omega
Medical Outpost OmegaA space station run by the Technomites that was used for medical research. This is where Ratchet's DNA was extracted for the clones Emperor Otto Destruct created. On MylonMylon was a heavily fortified refinery planet that was used by Dr. Nefarious as a Bio-Bliterator fueling plant. Opposed by dozens of robot Thyrranoids, it was where Ratchet and Clank bravely fought their way through the base and eventually reached the Bio-Bliterator and Nefarious, and destroyed both. The climate on this planet, appeared to be polluted, muddy, and dark, due to all the refineries and fueling stations. The sky was a dark brownish color, just like planet Umbris.
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal

Nefarious's Ice World was used in the fifth Qwark vid-comic,
The Shaming of the Q. The Ice world was home to Dr. Nefarious' laboratory, where he had been holding Qwark captive. When he heard that Qwark escaped, Lawrence suggested to Nefarious that they "flood the vicinity with boiling acid," to which Nefarious answered, "I like the way you think, Lawrence. Can we do that? Make it so!" The player then controls Qwark as he tries to beat the rising acid to the surface and escape Nefarious once again. The acid is blue in color.

Novalis
Crash landing on NovalisNovalis is an earth-like planet with a good balance of water and land. Aside a small population of Amoeboids in one of its larger caves, Tobruk Crater appeared to be a generally clean area of Novalis full of villages, caves, and sewers.
Obani Draco
DracoObani Draco was the third moon of the planet Obani in the Zygan System and was home to Courtney Gears' secret getaway and recording studio. Its appearance was not unlike that of a massive disco ball, and its interior was packed with speakers and colored lights - giving the impression of a high-tech rave. The moon was first mentioned as the "third moon" but later its real name was revealed. Its name was formed from the name of its planet, Obani, and the Latin word
draco - which means "dragon".
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Obani Gemini
GeminiObani Gemini was the main moon of the moons that orbited the planet Obani in the Zygan System. It had an unusually small size and thus could be fully explored within a short space of time. The moon was surrounded by a ring of asteroids and had a very uneven surface featuring rivers of lava and small, grassy areas. Most notably, the moon was surrounded by a series of satellites and, by repairing the laser links between them it was possible to access the teleporter leading to the nearby moon, Obani Pollux.
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Obani Pollux
PolluxObani Pollux was the second moon in the Zygan System. Dr. Nefarious erased all coordinates to this moon and made it accessible only through a teleporter on Obani Gemini. As a mostly cybernetic moon with cybernetic vegetation, Obani Pollux also featured the controls for the Omega-class disintegration system which surrounded Obani Draco. Like Obani Gemini, it had a very uneven surface consisting of many cliffs.
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Oltanis
OltanisA planet plagued by deadly lightning storms (which was the reason Clank couldn't go and explore with Ratchet). In order to stop the storms from causing any damage, the residents utilized massive lightning attractors that harnessed the energy. The citizens of Oltanis were completely unarmed, preferring to live peaceful lives rather than to go to war. This made the planet an easy target for Chairman Drek of the Blarg, during his attempt to create a new planet for his people on Orxon. Oltanis was home to Gorda City.
Orxon
OrxonA heavily-industrialized world filled with Raritanium mines, which caused the horrendous pollution that has rendered the planet virtually uninhabitable. Most Blargs were forced to wear oxygen masks in order to survive in the poisonous atmosphere. Orxon was used as a gauntlet course for DreadZone contestants, and the world had been "terraformed", as it is raining. The planet returns from the original Ratchet and Clank, however the game makes no significant try to make you realise that.
- Ratchet and Clank
- Ratchet: Deadlocked
Pokitaru
Clank, relaxing on Pokitaru
A very small tropical world filled with oceans and islands. It was home to the Jowai Resort. At a time, it was one of the most popular getaway spots in the galaxy. However, since the Blarg began dumping their toxic waste in the oceans, the sea life became ravenous mutants and the resort neared the verge of shutting down. Many tourists either were forced to flee as a result, or became fish and chips. Fortunately, Ratchet and Clank stopped this pollution and the resort eventually reopened. The planet was also a great source for the element Raritanium, but it became impossible to find thanks to the Blarg's pollution.
- Ratchet and Clank

She created Clank so that he could combat Drek's plans, and told the duo about Drek's plans to destroy Veldin.
Quodrona
QuadronaQuodrona was a volcanic planet where an appearently abandoned city remains. The planet is seen in the Technomite Map Room on planet Ryllus, proving that it is, or was sometime, inhabited by Technomites. - Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
Rilgar
Blackwater CityRilgar was a chilly planet far from any sun, but that is yet without snow. It was famous for its black-colored "water", from which Blackwater City took its name. Rilgar was a popular spot for hoverboard races, and was also home to an active night life. However, it also suffered from an Amoeboid infestation, which had seen some resurgences since their initial "extermination" at the hands of
Captain Qwark.

- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Rionosis
RionosisPlanet
Rionosis was well known by it's new year celebrations. Because the planet moves round the sun at such a rapid speed a new year comes in every 4.2 seconds. The terrain of the planet is mountainous and also has volcanos.
Ryllus
The forests of RyllusA plant-covered, fairly inhospitable planet, in the Solana galaxy. Ryllus had a diversity of bizarre plants. The sun was hidden, due to the dense cover of tree canopy, and gave the forests a purple-colored tone. Razorback Cats were native to this planet, as well as the carnivorous Bury Blossom plants. A large number of ruined temples were also some of the features.
- Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
Sarathos
SarathosA hellish alien swamp world with a very gassy atmosphere. Sarathos is inhabited by Leviathans, monstrous and very agressive scorpion-like beasts that lurk in the swamps. The average Leviathan's monstrous nature was matched only by the King Leviathan, a much larger and more dangerous Leviathan that resided in a combat arena built by the Vox construction team. Like many other planets in the Shadow Sector, Sarathos was used by Gleeman Vox as a DreadZone challenge course.
Shaar
Icy planet that is the site of various mysterious ancient temples. The endless expance of the icy tundra made survival a struggle. Little is known about the nature of the temples or who built them, although the existence of "the Ancient Guardians of Shaar" has been hinted by DreadZone paint jobs. After the temples were abandoned, Gleeman Vox had them turned into a DreadZone battlecourse
Spaceship Graveyard
The
Spaceship Graveyard was visited by Clank in Secret Agent Clank. He searched Klunk here in order to catch him and prove that Ratchet is innocent to the crime of the Eye of Infinity. It was filled with broken down spaceships.

- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Stygia
StygiaA planet plagued by meteor showers, probably from the nearby Valix Belt, that were only held in check by massive forcefields. If these shields were to fail, Stygia would be destroyed within mere hours. Gleeman Vox turns the forcefields off and sends Ratchet to turn them back on. There are also massive lightning storms on the planet frequently. The city itself is suspended high above the surface, possibly explaining the rough weather.
Thran Asteroid
The Thran Asteroid was the location at which Captain Qwark hid after the return of Dr. Nefarious. Filled with Qwark Bots, Lawn Ninjas, and forcefields, the icy getaway was virtually impenetrable. The belt was very cold and the second anyone fell in the water, they were frozen solid. There were very high cliffs scattered everywhere and large dead-looking trees.
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Torval
Torval A deserted planet that was the site of various toy factories belonging to Gleeman Vox of the Vox Media Empire. Vox's line of Ace Hardlight action figures were built on Torval, but the factory was eventually shut down due to bad sales. The factory remains soon became infestated with robot zombies. After the factory was shut down, Vox had the abandoned factory turned into a DreadZone battlecourse. A planet that resembles Torval can be seen in the sky from Stratus City on Kortog, which hints that Torval may be close to the Polaris Galaxy.
Tree House
The High Impact Games Treehouse was a secret level in Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank, similar to the Insomniac Museum in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. In Size Matters, there were only two ways to get there. The first way was to go to planet Metalis between 2:42 AM and 2:47 AM, and a teleporter appeared near the Titanium Bolt location. The other way was to get all Skill Points.

Zygan System
The Zygan System was the area of space that held the planet Obani and its moons. The most well known moons were Obani Gemini, Obani Pollux and Obani Draco. A great war was fought in the Zygan System, which led to many of it's inhabitants fleeing elsewhere. One participant in the war was Shellshock, in this war his brain was destroyed and had to be replaced with a chip from a coffe machine.
