With the upcoming release of Sonic Generations I'm listening to all this Sonic music. Some great, some awful, and some so awful that they are great. So I ask you all, what is your favourite Sonic song? I have to go with a classic, Super Sonic Racing. Hated Sonic R but damn if that isn't a great track to play in Samba:

Technically it's Shadow but still Julien-K kicks ass and so does this song.

Also, my personal favorite is probably Mushroom Hill. It resonates with my childhood. That, or every Knuckles theme in SA2 :3.

Yes. Somewhat ironically. It really is one of the most memorable parts of that game, though. WE AT PUMPKIN HILL.

Oh so many, where to start? I think Sonic has some of the best game music ever.

I love this song and I love that there's four versions of it in the game. The original is still my favorite.

Mystic Caverns, no contest.  I actually jam over this song on a regular basis, along with Ice Cap and Lava Reef.

I'm not sure if this is my favorite song from the Sonic series, and part of me feels the slightest bit bad for liking this as much as I do, but this song is pretty awesome in a "GO GO POWER RANGERS" sort of way.

Also, really, guys and dolls? Nobody's put up "Sonic Boom" yet? Seriously? That song's fantastic.

This song, Open Your Heart, and Escape From the City are amazing songs. I really loved the soundtrack to this game. Still gives me alot of nostalgia when I listen to them.

Really? Has hardly no one played Sonic CD? That's not only the best Sonic game, it also has the best soundtrack.

@NTM: I didn't want to point out the obvious. Yes Sonic CD has an amazing soundtrack and is also an amazing game.

@bartok: I think I prefer this one. It's the mainstream choice but its still great.

Chemical Plant zone is my favorite, but damn, this series has some good ass music.

Yeah, that's actually in Generations. I was really impressed when I found that out. It's a mission mode song from what I can tell though.

It's one of the best tracks in the franchise, I agree. For some reason I loved that stage as a kid.

My favorite Sonic songs are the entire Sonic 2 soundtrack, but this particular remix of Chemical Plant Zone takes the cake:

probaly a unpopular opinion but i rather like crush 40 so the stuff they have done and yes its because of how cheesy it is :P they did a song on sonic 2006 called "all hail shadow" for gods sake

"That's the Way I Like It," the theme for Metal Harbor in Sonic Adventure 2 is my favorite. I can't really think of any Sonic music I flat out dislike, except for maybe the music that played in Sonic CD during a later level that had lots of cars in it. The music had honking sounds. I didn't actually think the music was bad, the level just gave me so much hell that I started to hate the music too.

Awesome song. This, along with City Escape, brings the most 'nostalgia' feeling to me that anything else. By far.

Say what you want about the game itself, but this is what made me buy it in the first place

The game may have not have been the greatest but the music was some of the best in the entire series.

Virtually everything in Sonic CD. American version, since I grew up on that. Don't hate.
