    Overview

Sonic Spike (JP: World Beach Volley) is a 1990 volleyball game published by IGS for the TurboGrafx-16.

It features twenty-four playable characters: two men and two women each from USA, Japan, China, Brazil, Australia and Russia. Both the men and women are drawn in an exaggerated style, and the backgrounds (which depends on the nationalities of those playing) are generally cartoonish. The game features the usual volleyball mechanics of passing and setting the ball up for spikes, and all the games are two-on-two.

    Port

The game was ported to the Game Boy and was released by IGS in Japan as "World Beach Volley: 1991 GB Cup", and by Taito in Europe as "World Beach Volley: 1992 GB Cup". Taito was going to release it in North America as "Beach Volley" however it was canceled.
