Sophitia Alexandra is a recurring character in Namco's Soul series of fighting games. She made her first appearance in the original game, Soul Edge (a.k.a. Soul Blade), and is also playable in every Soul Calibur game from the first to the fourth. Sophitia was not included in the arcade release of Soul Calibur II, but was made playable in the home console versions. She will not appear in Soul Calibur V as a playable character; instead, her two grown children, Patroklos and Pyrrha, will make their playable debut.
Sophitia hails from Athens, which during the age of the Soul Calibur series is a part of the Ottoman Empire. An innocent woman and the daughter of a simple baker, she is chosen by Hephaestus, the Greek god of the smith, to seek out and destroy the cursed blade known as Soul Edge. At the end of her journey, she manages to destroy the sword, but in the process is injured as a number of the blade's fagments pierce her body. Taki manages to rescue Sophitia and returns her to her home. After collapsing due to a vision of Soul Edge, a man named Rothion comes to her aid, and the two fall in love and marry.
Three years after her first journey, Sophitia receives a second command from Hephaestus to once again fight the evil of Soul Edge, Rothion aids her by forging her a new sword and shield. On her journey, she manages to destroy Soul Edge a second time. Upon her return, she and her husband have two children, a son name Patroklos, and a daughter, Pyrrha. Eventually, Rothion comes into possession of a fragment of Soul Edge; the presence of which causes Sophitia's old wounds to ache, and her children to fight over the shard. After her sister Cassandra runs off to search for Soul Edge by herself, Sophitia eventually follows after her.
- As of Soul Calibur IV, the Alexandra sisters are the only characters that do not give out their actual weights in their character profiles. They are listed as "refuses to tell" or "lost weight recently". This tradition is continued in Soul Calibur V, where Sophitia's children Patroklos and Pyrrha also do not give out their weights.
- In Soul Calibur V, it is revealed that Sophitia was killed by a group of malfested, and that her son Patroklos has set out to both avenge his mother and rescue his long-lost sister.
- When the spirit of Soul Calibur wishes to communicate with Patroklos in Soul Calibur V's story mode, it does so via Elysium, a construct made in the image of Sophitia so as to better influence Patroklos. Although Sophitia is not playable, being dead, Elysium is unlocked for play once the player completes story mode. However, Elysium does not play like Sophia, but rather uses randomly chosen fighting styles of the game's other female characters.
- Sophitia is a playable character in Tecmo Koei's Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate. She is the first character from a non-Tecmo Koei franchise to appear in the Warriors Orochi series.
