The fifth installment in Namco's Soul series of weapon-based fighting games, Soulcalibur IV is the first to be released on seventh-generation consoles and the first online entry in the series. It's known for its use of Star Wars characters as guest fighters.
I am at about the same place, but I haven't played the game in about a week. Actually, I think I may have left off on 42-44. I am just surprised that I've gotten that high since I've never really played a SC game until this one.
And I say a key to advancing through levels (at least a big part of my strategy) is obtaining ring outs. I just find that it makes things a lot easier and quicker, unless your on a stage that doesn't have that option of course :P
Not to sound like a total ashole, but I'm at floor 60(edit: done with floor 60 actually). I'm really just trying to get to floor 40 of Descend at this point, then I've pretty much done all there is to the game.

Floor 45-46 are way harder than 42-44"
I'm in the same position, except I've finished up to lvl52 on Descending.
Some tips would be great from those who have got high (or low) into the tower. I am stuck on about 40, the trio named "Time to Trifle" where every stage is a battle against the clock and most enemies have HP Recovery, Grapple Break S and/or Ring Out S. It is incredibly frustrating.
Any good characters or skills to customize would be appreciated.
Trying to get through 21+. Doesn't seem to work out just yet. The cat-like boss finishes off my last character right at the very end. Experimenting with different abilities at the moment.

I hate those damn cat suits.
Especially when your fighting some Japanese dude online who has his character dressed as one. When you break the armor, it's always a naked chick underneath. It's so fucking creepy.
I'm about half-way through, but I stopped trying a long time ago. It seems the only way to win is to rely on cheap tacs and use customs anyway, and that's not what I play SCIV for. Standard VS ftw!
