Gauging Community Interest: Is Giant Bomb Excited For SC5?
I hate all fighting games but that is because I am terrible at them. I think my 9 month old son could beat me and all he does with my controllers is chew on them if he gets one but I still believe he would have a chance to beat me.

Have you played a Soul Calibur before, by chance? I'm not sure what the difference is exactly, but in my case, it's the one exception to the rule that I find all 3D fighters to be garbage.

No interest. Mortal Kombat is about the only fighting game I find even remotely interesting. I can appreciate watching a match every now and then, but mastering fighting mechanics using characters with comically oversized anatomy isn't something that strikes my fancy.
lol, irony.
I really enjoyed Soul Calibur II back in the day but when my friends started bringing SCIV around, it didn't look exciting at all, especially with that horrible Star Wars stage (awful music loop). I find Ivy disgusting and the gameplay feels clunky and slow to me ...
So I don't really care at all about Soul Calibur 5..
Very excited. I like Soul Calibur and DOA fighting games. I can play them and have fun. I suck at Capcom fighting games. They aren't much fun for me. I'm very "casual" about the whole genre. I'm eager to see what I can come up with in SCV's create a character, too.
I'm in a tough spot on this game since I think I have low expectations of it, but I have a friend who I played SC with in college who says he wants to compete on it and isn't willing to go back and re-unlock characters in an older SoulCalibur.
I hope the GB guys do a Quick Look with SCV. Namco has been so stingy with info it's worrisome.
It seems like GB is more interested in fighters than most and there was always a good dialog when SFF and MK released - granted both were solid reboots of long standing classics. Someone up front summed it up - unless it is a Capcom retred most of the world doesn't notice. Games like KOF are not heard of on most sites so it was nice to see Jeff & Ryan give it some QL love.
Like some others have said, SCV doesn't look like it is going to be the much needed franchise reboot. It looks a lot like a re-skinned and tweaked SC4 (aka the worst SC game in the series). I am a huge fighting fan but SC4 stung so I am likely to sit on the fence and wait for reviews. If SCV turns out to be as feature lacking as it is sounding then I'll just pick it up when it hits the bargain bin. I appreciate the tweaks to the fighting engine but I'm not a tournament player so my purchase timing is irrelevant.
@Devoid: Equipment had no effect on your stats in regular game modes. It only made your character better in some of the bonus modes. I assume SCV will be the same.
@supamon: Probably development time. The director has been shockingly candid about the fact that Namco has been pushing him to get the game out quickly.
I didn't think I was that excited but after a simple art video, that really has nothing to do with the game I am!
