Overview
Space Raiders is an update of the 1978 Space Invaders arcade game that was developed and published by Taito Corporation and published by Mastiff and Tommo in other territories. The PlayStation 2 version was released on December 19, 2002 in Japan and Sep 5, 2003 in PAL territories. The GameCube version was released in Japan on Jan 9, 2003 and in North America on April 19, 2004.
Gameplay
The gameplay in Space Raiders functions similarly to the original Space Invaders arcade game at the most basic level. As one of three playable characters, the player can move side to side in narrow pathways while shooting at approaching hordes of enemies. Unlike the arcade game, however, the player is afforded a small amount of vertical movement, as well. At certain points, the player can acquire a weapons boost that enables the player to deal more damage. the game features six levels.
Characters
Space Raiders features three playable characters; a teenager from the streets named Justin, a fashion photographer named Ashley, and a police officer named Naji. There is no significant difference in the way that the three characters play.
