The Spartan Laser features a 2 scope. It releases a red laser after three seconds of charging. The laser can kill a fully shielded player and destroy all vehicles except tanks in one shot. It can kill players in tanks in one shot if the laser is aimed at the tank's cockpit, leaving a damaged but usable tank. A fully charged laser has five shots, and requires cooling down between shots besides the charging time. There is an achievement for killing two players with one laser shot in a ranked free for all playlist.
The Spartan Laser returned mostly unchanged for Halo: Reach, with the only notable change being the reduction of the charge capacity. A fully charged laser in Reach has only four shots, as opposed to the five available in Halo 3. Slight visual tweaks have also been made to the model.
