I'm currently still in the cell stage.

I'm just going around eating food and stuff, and everyone so often, my screen will do this weird 'zooming out' thing.

What is this?

If you look at the bar along the bottom you will see it fills up as you eat food. At certain points along the bar you cell will grow. If the camera didnt zoom back then your cell will eventually fill the screen making gameplay somewhat difficult.
