Squirrel Girl is essentially a joke character, with powers that most would consider laughable. However, in canon, she is considered the most powerful character in the Marvel Universe, and has felled foes easily on her own that entire teams of more well-known heroes have failed against. Part of this trait is undeniably due to creative use of her powers, but the rest of the equation remains a mystery.
In the comics she currently serves as the nanny of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones' baby. Although this keeps her out of the limelight due to her duties, she still is willing to protect innocents, including the baby. Also during this time, she was able to easily defeat Wolverine in a sparring match.
