It doesn't take any risks... (story aside)
But it does what it does right.
Gameplay
The gameplay is interestingly complex, while at the same time being easily accesible. The combat takes place in real-time, and there are no random encounters. That is, you can see all of your enemies on the game screen. When you touch one, you will go into a combat field. You control one of your party members while the other party members are controlled by AI. Its very intuitive and just fun to play.
Story
This is where some controversy came in. The story is a straightforward sci-fi/fantasy story up until a major plot twist (that I won't spoil) that made many fans of the series angry. I, however, thought it was a massive risk to take and it really renewed my interest in the game's story. Play it yourself and see if you think it's stupid or interesting.
Graphics
Nothing special, its a PS2 jrpg. It looks okay and the art for some of the more sci-fi-ish stuff looks really cool.
Overall, i had to give it a 5. It was just such a great experience to play. I recommend it for anyone who likes a good, somewhat formulaic jrpg.
