Oh great...Super-serious, overly sci-fi, "mature" star wars is the best star wars...

Mysterious LucasArts Project Is Star Wars 1313

@habibyjohnson: What is "overly sci-fi" in a series that starts off with laser swords and planet-cities?

Difficult to get excited over Star Wars anything these days
Yeah, I kind of agree. I love the better parts of the franchise, but I'm a bit weary with it all these days.
Wasn't there already a Star Wars Bounty Hunter game? Or am I just remembering a generic sci fi bounty hunting game?

What if Prey 2 was actually this game.
I was thinking the same exact thing.
Same. Might've jumped brands to get it actually finished, or at least Lucasarts like "Oh shit let's pump this out before Prey 2 gets released because it'll never get released and we need a new SW game". The only problem with the 'brand switch' is the question of how easy it would be to change all those assets. Considering the adaptability of the SW universe, I could see it mostly being an issue with character models rather than environments.
Still. I'd... mostly be ok with that? Other than it being the unfortunate continuation of Star Wars' domination of the sci-fi genre, so long as I get to play something like what Prey 2 was going to be, I'm ok.
Sturgeon's Law applies pretty well to Star Wars these days. I wonder if this will fall into the 90%.
You're kidding me, this is exactly what I have always wanted out of a Star Wars game. However, with how fucked up the universe has been lately, this better not disappoint me.
Now I'm curious... Was there ever a "mature" Star Wars game? I mean, are they just going to throw in a bunch of cursing and blood or something?
I was so excited for Force Unleashed as the definitive "kick-ass jedi" game that I'm in full on "Prove Me Wrong" mode when it comes to Star Wars* games.

I wanted it to be Battlefront 3, but at this point i'll take any star wars game that isn't garbage.
That's the trick. I'm cautiously optimistic but we've been burned by licensed trash so many times before.

A Star Wars game with allegedly "no force powers" (from GI's article), featuring a unknown character? Why bother.
I'm hoping this game makes me eat that snark and that it turns out to be something good.
A Star Wars game with no Force powers and an unknown character is exactly the kind of Star Wars game that I want. So long as it's quality.
Sounds akin to Dark Forces to me. I came up on that late 80s-90s period of awesome SW games that were all about the agents, the cool tech that seemed borderline steampunk because of how beat to **** and handwelded everything looked, the greater universe outside of the "OMGLOOKITALITESABERPEWFORCEPUSHPEWLOLZ" hogwash.
Put a good team behind this and I'm onboard. Rookie One and Kyle Katarn>Revan and Starkiller
I would think that by now between the 8-32 bit star wars games on just about every console & the recent MMO that they've covered just about every gameplay angle of the mythos so the idea that this game "dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we've always known existed, but never had a chance to visit" is so beyond being plausible makes it somewhat hard to feel motivated for.
I mean maybe if you were a psychotic ewok bounty hunter in something styled like Boba Fett's armor as a time traveling 3rd person action adventure going into other sci-fi/fantasy universes & killing everyone then yeah maybe they haven't visited that yet but just about everything else has been done by now.
The LucasArts web site has bit more info than this.
But LucasArts hasn't made a good game since 1998, so I have no plans to buy this game, unless something comes along to change my mind.

It'll be the second mission before you have to steal the Death Star plans, rescue C-3P0 and discover you're actually Anakin's long lost brother and have to go to Dagobah to be trained by Yoda. Star Wars EU always has to tie into the movies somehow, and it's usually in the most ridiculous ways possible.
Yeah.. I think I'm over Star Wars at this point. After the immense disappointments of the Force Unleashed and Old Republic, it's hard to see how anyone could be excited for this.

Lucas arts making more STAR WARS, am i suprised?
Actually, LucasArts developing any kind of video game in-house is kind of surprising at this point.

OFFICIAL INFORMATION LEAK
Clint Hocking is the reason I might be interested in this. I absolutely adore Far Cry 2 and I really like what I've read in his blog - he's a clearly a thinker and want's to push things forward and I appreciate that. Clint Hocking was talking a lot about transmedia stuff around the time he resigned his last post - I'm really curious to see if that's going to be a big part of this game (although I probably wouldn't care about anything else other than the core game).
I hope this is good enough to make up for the 8 hours of my life I lost to Force Unleashed. What a POS that was.

Fucking what!? Battlefront, Republic Commando, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy and Mercs.
I like the idea of it aiming for an adult audience. Let's just hope it's more accurate than Stormtroopers.

Star Wars : Bounty Hunter for the PS2/GCN was actually a pretty good game. I sense this is like that only a lot darker.
