Why the FUCK have they not written any KOTOR novels yet?

They have about a bajillion Star Wars novels. These sell well.

They have a KOTOR comic series. This sells well.

Why have they not combined the two yet? I would read the hell out of some KOTOR novels (Never been a comic guy really). Seriously these would be so awesome. KOTOR is the best thing to happen to Star Wars since the original trilogy, yet it's treated like some red-headed stepchild.

    Wait-- oh shit yesss: http://www.theforce.net/latestnews/story/Alex_Irvine_Talks_Of_His_KOTOR_Novel_117941.asp

Because George Lucas is a hack and he hates the KOTOR setting because he can't accept the fact Star Wars fans are no longer interested in his circle jerk love affair with the Skywalker bloodline and the Galactic Civil War time period. Hell just read the post-vong comic series 'Star Wars: Legacy' it is essentially Galatic Civil War v2.0 - now with added Jedi drug abuse.

The other issue with the KOTOR era is simply creating canon for it. The Star Wars novels have notoriously been ripe with plotholes and canon issues which is partly due to having different authors covering the books at times. We still don't know Revan or The Exiles true gender or name or appearance because Lucas / Star Wars HQ have been far too cagey and unwilling to make any canon decisions on it. The only time was in a EU book covering droids where The Exile is referenced as 'her' a few times but that was soon shot down as simply a printing error as numerous folks had the same book but with references of 'him' instead.

Essentially Star Wars is so full of information and lore that it feels like too much is going on and George Lucas isn't willing to actually do anything with all this great mythos and story potential. What we really need is for him to hand the mantle over to someone who is willing to bring Star Wars into a new era of awesome nerdgasm-ness.
