Game » consists of 5 releases. Released Dec 20, 2011

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a massively-multiplayer role-playing game set 300 years after the events of BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic series, but still approximately 3,600 years before the events of the films.

So I just bought TOR from a store. Disc 3 is scratched to shit.

Yeah, remember those? REAL locations where merchants sell you their wares? Sarcasm aside...

I installed roughly two and a half of the three discs, only to find out the third disc is scratched to hell. Fresh out of the packaging too. I'm not too perturbed, but I am a little annoyed that I now have to download and install it over the goddamn Internet. 25 gigs is a lot for a 5Mb connection, and most of the time I get two Mb, maybe.

-sigh- the woes of MMO's. Anyhow, I wanted to know if anyone else who bought physical copies can attest to their discs being scratched up? I want to know if I'm an unlucky bastard or if this is something that's been going on.

Return it and get a new disk.

Sorry to hear that, man. Man... 2MB/s sounds amazing right about now- ever since I moved into my grandparents house, I haven't been able to download more than 300KB/s... I should investigate this, I've got a job, I can pay for faster internet...

Wal-Mart, I'm ashamed to say. I was doing some last minute gift hunting and saw it just sitting there.

@The_Laughing_Man: I really should, but eh, I'm already downloading/installing the game at a decent clip (for my connection, anyhow). I'll probably just do a good chunk of my 5th DA2 run if I get bored enough. Or watch Empire Strikes Back.

That's real shitty. It was sealed up and everything too?

Like the others say, I'd return it. Wal-mart is not the most discerning place at the best of times, and you've got legitimate beef.

... That said, in recent years I will sometimes buy a game retail, then never touch the disk, just dling it instead (Stacraft 2) :p

Try shutting down anything un needed. That will help.

The only thing open on my machine is Chrome and TOR's launcher. I dare not even catch up on some GB subscriber videos.

When my brother told me he could boot windows for me off a usb stick I was struggling to find a reason when I would use a disk. So I never bothered putting in a DVD drive.

2MB/s download speed is pretty damn good. All I get is 1.5MB/s and I pay $65 a month for that. And there's nothing wrong with Wal-Mart. At least you won't be turned down for not pre-ordering it.

6,5MB/s, no cap, @60$. Glass Fibre Internet for the win. Only wish we had cool services around my parts like Netflix Streaming. All we get is grossly overpriced pay per view shit. Like 10$ a pop. Not worthy of the internet's digital distribution potential for consumers. Fuck that.

They are ridiculously cheap now, it's kind of silly.

These are such trivial problems, so go back to the store and get a new disc.
