Cool now make a proper Knights game
I wonder how long it will be before the scales tip and the 4 billion Disney paid Lucas for everything appears like a mere pittance. This licensing fee is probably a meaningful step in that direction.

That line just reads so fucking scummy.
Holy shit. Is EA literally just run by demon corporate bureaucrats now?
And in typical EA fashion, they're going to take a ferocious hershey squirt shit all over those dreams. OH WAIT.... they already did.
SWTOR 2 anyone?
@djou: I would second that game!
I don't get the sudden excitement from some people about this announcement.
It's not like EA or their studios didn't have access to the Star Wars license in the past. Now it's exclusive.
It's true that EA will make games better than what Lucas Arts have done with it for the past generation, but that's irrelevant because interest in Star Wars products are about to skyrocket with a new trilogy on the way and it's going to maintain that interest for, what, 10-15 years? That means many other talented developers who would be interested in the Star Wars property and making quality games now no longer have that chance to make them.
With THAT knowledge, the fact that EA bought the exclusive rights is very saddening. Also, with all of the changes EA has made lately... it seems like they're going back to their old ways. At least we can hope for Battlefront 3 or spiritual successor.
What is it with everyone wanting a new Battlefront game? It wasn't THAT great of a game to begin with, and there are WAAAAY better Star Wars franchises to work on, like the Jedi Knight series, Rogue Squadron, hell, I'd take a new Podracer game over yet another uninspired military shooter.
SimCity city sets for all major Star War's universe planets forthcoming?
I think the best thing that could come out of this would be the ability to build my own Mos Eisley.
Also, the obligatory:
You know I would actually pay for a SimCity: Star Wars. Or even The Sims: Star Wars.
Strange that EA didn't want to pick up 1313? Lucasarts seemed to be the ones more about making traditional Star Wars ass Star Wars games, featuring Luke, Vader, Tie Fighters, etc. Where as EA had published more "extended universe" dudebro with crewcut, 3 Doors Down music video looking Star Wars games. An Uncharted but with vague Jedi references would be right up their alley.
Agreed on not caring about purchasing any of the related results just due to not wanting what EA brings to the table, nor caring much about the Star Wars franchise. I hope for those who do care and buy the products that they treat you right and you get something enjoyable as well as respectable.
Let's be honest here guys.
EA can't possibly do as poor a job as Lucas Arts had been doing for the last decade or so. Not to mention the fact that if nobody had picked this up in the first place, we probably wouldn't be seeing any more Star Wars games as it is.
Could it have gone to better hands? Sure. Was it likely? Hell no.
And I would rather see EA making mediocre iterative Star Wars games than there be no Star Wars games ever again.
Oh also, this totes opens the door for a new BioWare developed dialogue driven RPG set in the Star Wars universe. Which is very exciting.
Not sure what to think of this. Part of me is disappointed, part of me thinks Knights of the Old Republic 3. That said, who else do I think should even get the license... I can't think of a perfect choice.
Star Wars: Masters of Teräs Käsi HD Remix please.
I would really love to see what kind of action/adventure game Visceral could make in the Star Wars universe, and wether or not you want to admit it, I think most people would love an EA crossover in the realm of a Star Wars Sim City or a C&C flavored startegy game with Star Wars units.
I'm not saying I trust the modern version of EA to do anything interesting or inovative with the license, but it's fun to dream sometimes, no?
Sound business sense that ea made a deal with Disney. Maybe with this deal will bring a fresh perspective and make some old franchises fresh. Starwars battlefront should be made by dice. They already make the excellent battlefield series, so it would be a no brainier for them to make a new one. I think 1313 will come out on an ea label. Maybe ea could set up a new studio to deal with the Starwars franchise.
I don't see EA as the bad guys in this deal, Disney should look at what they are missing out on, they shut down the studios. They are are only interested in the movie side of the Starwars name. At least we can wait and see if EA do it right.
Guess that means another generation of terribly mediocre Star Wars games. Mark it down, because I guaranty that every release is going to be met with hostile reactions by the gaming community, justified or not.
What? Speaking as part of the gaming community I am actively excited for a new Star Wars game from Bioware. It will be met by positive reactions from me so long as it's compelling to play
In theory its good news that new Star Wars games will be released and that devs like Bioware, DICE and Visceral are being mentioned. Games from those three alone would have me potentially interested.
The part that makes me go "hold on a minute" is the EA as publisher bit. While probably the only realistic choice their track record of late regarding some development and business decisions (i.e. things like accelerated development cycles and micro transactions) makes me worry a little.
So until we actually get our hands on the first couple of games to come out of this deal I shall remain somewhat pessimistic.

I guess none of you got the memo that Alex added that line
As someone on Reddit pointed out (and it may have been mentioned in this comment thread already), say goodbye to Star Wars games on Steam. This sucks.
You guys need to Chill... EA can actually make good games. Star Wars games were terrible.
Let them do a Republic Commando 2, and Kotor 3... At least it will happen now, well 99% sure it will.
Lucas Arts was a terrible Dev.
First Lucas destroys the things I love. Now EA gets to as well. I can already see the DLC for lightsaber colors.
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened....
This isn't as bad as it sounds. I did a bunch of research on this, and
