Coming This Month: StarCraft II Closed Beta
2 'major' products here, eh? Hmm, has me guessing. I've played Blizzard games since Diablo 1, and to them a 'Major' product could just as likely be an expansion. I say lookout, it might not be Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, it's a good possibility it's just SC2 and Cataclysm. Which would blow...I'd rather be wrong than right here.
I didn't search through all 5 pages, so someone may have already said it, but it's worth mentioning
Goddamnit. I was really hoping to have a key by now. Tried every contest and twitter thing short of actually GOING TO BLIZZCON (would have if I could have). Guess I get to hope for the opt-in.... At least it'll probably be out by my birthday.
Also the Blizzard posters on the Starcraft 2 forums are all being really dodgy about naming any date. Or timeframe. They haven't even said straight up that it's coming this month. Which is absurd, considering this news.
Bioware has a system for ME2 and Dragon Age and people don't compain about it. With the PC being an open plaform there won't ever be a single system in a place for all games. Games for Windows is the closest to that but I don't see them taking over for all games." I still don't get this. I don't see how 3 games justify them setting up a system for it. "
" I still don't get this. I don't see how 3 games justify them setting up a system for it. "When those 3 games are played by tens of millions of people and are likely to have huge crossover then yes. Blizzard has more than 3 games in their stable, especially when one is another MMO.
I wasn't really into the online play (Oh look...another zergling rush...how original), but I'd put that aside just to lay hands upon the new Starcraft.
" I still don't get this. I don't see how 3 games justify them setting up a system for it. "Well, one of those games is the most successful and financially lucrative games of all time. Another is a national sport in Korea. The third is 13 years old and still being played by thousands of people.
Not to mention, this is Blizzard. These are same people who have been operating Battle.net for the past 13 years and still release patches for the original Stacraft.
I bet the Koreans are really fucking excited about this. They'll be playing the living shit out of this game.
For me, if it doesn't have achievements to Xbox or Steam then I won't have any interest, maybe when it makes it to the 'bins I will.
" @Blood_for_the_blood_God said:Blood for the Blood God!!! I like that name." since when do game reviewers determine the legitimacy of corporate mergers? "Since when do commenters decide the job requirements of the guys who work for GiantBomb? "
" Am I the only human on earth who's just completely "meh" upon reading this? "No, my good man. You are not.
There were tower defenses, RPGs, heros defending from waves of enemies, economy games, freakishly well made Grand Theft Auto type open world games, combat arenas, predator and prey hunts...
The most well-made custom map was an epic sized RPG that had over 100 hours of gameplay, with an advanced job-switching mechanic and intricate skill system.
And SC2 will have a map-maker that's more powerful and easier to use....
Yeah, I would buy the game for the Custom maps alone.
