Just curious. I've been watching a lot of SC2, but I haven't been thrilled with the GSL casters. How many people have purchased season passes? Do you think it's worth the money?

Yes it is worth the money. You get a ton of the highest level games, with the excitement and drama of a tournament. It's fun to see how the tournament plays out. I personally really like the casters and maybe they will grow on you, but to each their own.
" How can you not like tasteosis? "It's most likely not their faults. I know they're basically... attached to the broadcast, they're not controlling the view in game, they're trying to find things to say while waiting for the interviews and other packages the Korean feed is running to be ready. I don't know if anyone could be great in that situation.
Again, neither one is bad. At all. Tasteosis just isn't killing it, for me. I mean, I'm considering paying money to watch them - so how bad could it be?
Having no specific loyalty to anyone, I kinda dig HD Starcraft's style. I don't know if he's put in for the Code A position.
I watched the first 3 seasons, I mainly stopped because I stopped caring that much about starcraft, and if you watch all the games, it takes up A LOT of time. So yea its well worth the money as long as you care about SC
Yea some of the "pre-game" stuff can be awkward because they don't have control of the feed, but I think they do a good job casting the games.

I bought the first 3 seasons but stopped after they refused to fix the livestream after 3 seasons. It's shameful. Watching the VODs was still great though.
Keep in mind they only have to wait around before the first game. For the rest of each series the next game starts at the beginning of each video.
The pass is worth it just to watch Jinro vs. oGsMC, Jinro vs. oGsEnsnare (Easily the best game in all of the GSLs. Jinro has had the craziest and more innovative games so far), Idra's stuff and Boxer's first group games. You can also watch code A as a motivator (Watch enough and you realize that some of them aren't really that much better than us for how much they practice, mainly some of Prime). You'll warm up to Tasteless and Artosis soon enough. Some of their jokes are kinda inside jokes now (All of the Clide stuff and the Guinea Pig stuff from season 3).
The games are well worth the price of admission, despite the numerous presentation and commenting problems.
I'll definitely agree I that the casters have their flaws. I love their in-depth knowledge of the game and (some of) the players. But when casting they do a lot of things that bug me (calling games and battles over early instead of just commenting on the action, insulting players and sulking through less interesting games instead of trying to make them interesting, rampant fanboyism of some players to the point of annoyance).
And they're obviously the B team and not as important as the Korean casters to the team, but I still feel like a better job could be done by them and Gom (mostly Gom) to make non-Korean watchers seem less like second class citizens.
But despite all that, it's ten bucks and well worth it.
I think Tastosis is getting kinda burned out from all of the terribad Code A stuff to be honest. The one day they did around 5 hours of casting when Jinro's group went on for multiple hours due to the crazy number of long games. They were great in season 3 but they had way less to cast each day. I guess that's why Gom's looking for two more casters for Code A only so Tasteless and Artosis can just do Code S. And yes, Tasteless needs to stop calling when a game is done. It's usually quite obvious anyway.
I dunno how anyone can complain about the Casting from Season 4 or GSL January or whatever we're calling it now.
IMO, this is the best commentating Tasteosis has ever done. With Tasteless freed from the shackles of obsing his commentary is free to actually be funny and there is some great chemistry between him and Artosis, that no one I know can match in the SC2 scene. The first week of this Season (month) the obs was terrible, but he's great now, we see so much more of the game and he usually does some camera tricks during the huge battles to make them seem more epic (zoom on banelings exploding/ turning camera to see more of tanks blowing stuff up).
Even if you don't watch any of the Code A games (there are some good ones in there, but quite a few bad ones too), the Code S stuff alone is worth the price of admission. Skip the livestream stuff (which btw has been working fine for me every time I have tried it this season, which is only usually on the foreigner fight nights), and watch the HQ VODs at your leisure and a decent hour in your timezone. $10 is approximately the amount I end up playing for a decent lunch around here, so I can't deny that I get about ~1000x more entertainment from this than my lunch.
If you can actually point out where I said it may not be worth it, that'd be amazing." OP's original conceit of why GSL may not be worth it is completely ridiculous. "
It's not even an unstated major premise. I was asking a question to people who have it.
The fact that I'm not thrilled about tasteosis is tangential at best.
Your line of logic reads:
Hey guys, I like tacos. Do they have good restaurants in San Francisco?
>OP is saying that restaurants that don't have tacos aren't any good.
Considering that the reason behind your concerns is the commentating (and that the commentating is far better than almost any casting duo I've heard except for JP/Day9), you either have way too high of standards, or don't enjoy their humor. Either way, pointing the question at the commentating rather than shitty series where one player consistently cheeses their way to victory, robbing you of good, entertaining games is ridiculous.
It actually doesn't display anything. It's a question. I'm acknowledging the casting hasn't been my favorite. I'm neither credulous or incredulous which is why I ask for the opinions of people who have been watching it." @BlaineBlaine: Simply asking the question, "Do you guys think it's worth it?" displays that you don't think it's worth it, or at the very least you have doubts that your money would be well spent.
Again. You're the only one inferring my conclusion... wrongly.Considering that the reason behind your concerns is the commentating (and that the commentating is far better than almost any casting duo I've heard except for JP/Day9), you either have way too high of standards, or don't enjoy their humor. Basically judge off the matches that are free to watch, if you pay you'll be getting more of that. Do you want more of that? If so, purchasing is a good idea as you get a lot of hours per dollar, if not... don't.
I just don't understand how somehow, someway, you can like HD more than Tastosis.

Heck, I like Tasteosis more than I like Day9 at this point. Heretical I know, but I really really like their style.
I agree, I love the way their jokes can bounce between each-other and the occasional periods of awkward babbling when they mess stuff up. Plus I'm starting to grow tired of the amount of time spent in a Day9 video of him pausing the game to show himself doing something or talking about something irrelevant. His Immortal impression is great though.
I'd love to see Day9, Tasteless and Artosis casting together again at some point like back at Blizzcon.
I've been fine just watching Husky and HD. I've been thinking about subscribing to GSL, but I barely watch all the games Husky and HD put up, so I don't think I'd be able to watch enough of a tournament for it to be worth ten dollars.

"Do you watch movies often? If the answer is yes, then $10 worth the price considering the number of content (and content that is forever accessible to you).
