Is Starcraft 2 the new Modern Warfare 2?
It's like comparing a sponge with a grit blaster, there's just no point. They do fundamentally different things (unless you are into grit blasting yourself)." Wow awesome responses from Giantbomb here. Starcraft 2 fanboys abound! "
Does Starcraft 2...
-
- Have thousands of annoying jerks playing it? - - Have a frustrating and mind numingly annoying multiplayer?
- - Is the single player campaign 5-6 hours long?
- - Is the single player filled with plot holes?
If you answered yes to all of those questions, then yes, Starcraft 2 is the new Modern Warfare 2.

If you answered yes to all of those questions, then yes, Starcraft 2 is the new Modern Warfare 2.
2. To some yes...
3. Well...the achievement says to beat the game under 6 hours, so yes?
4. Oh hell yes there are plot holes...
...oh wait, what did I just do...
" They have a lot in common... -Both are coming from highly received original titles -Both games have extremely polished albeit shorter single player campaigns. -Both games have excellent multiplayer that are a bit hard to get into since the communities are generally very experienced. -Both games had boycotts. -Both games are published by Activision, and cost more money than they probably should. "
" @MaFoLu said:I'm so sorry, Casual gamers won't play it as much." Not really. SC2 is way harder to get into than MW2, which means not as many non-gamers will play it. Also SC2 is only on PC, and that limits the number of people that will play it. This means that it's playerbase will not be as big, especially not with the non-gamer crowd. "non-gamers don't play games duh "
"No,not even close "
Maybe for the next week or two. However after that 420smokeweeddog is not going to playing competive SC2.

"
Heh. 5 APM will get you nowhere!" Go smoke a giant bowl and play MW2 then do the same and play starcraft2. You will feel the difference. "
And the "shorter" campaign complaint is really getting tired. It could be probably 20 hours to beat SC2 on normal. I did every mission and did a few on hard to get achievements. There is no way it took me that long to beat all of Starcraft 1.
It is funny that you compare MW2 and SC2 for short campaigns. MW2's campaign is like 5 hours long. THAT is short.

If you would actually read that Wikipage you would know that "Activision-Blizzard" is the new name for Vivendi games. The company that OWNS Activison and Blizzard, and Activision-Blizzard is owned by Vivendi SA, a french company. Activision is still a video game publisher for everything they pump out, while Blizzard actually publishes its game under its own name.
They renamed Vivendi Games when Vivendi SA acquired Activision for name recognition.
Under Studios -> Current." Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine, California, founded in February 1991 as Silicon & Synapse, acquired in 1998 by Vivendi, merged with Activision on July 9, 2008. "
Maybe you should read the article.
" @Cataphract1014Activision and Blizzard are SEPARATE companies under the Activision-Blizzard Company. The merge was the publishing side. Blizzard still makes games only, and Activision still publishes games only. They are NOT the same company.Under Studios -> Current." Just like Activision isn't on Blizzard products; Blizzard isn't on Activision products.
You can keep saying that they are the same, but that doesn't make it so.
I thought you didn't know about the merger at first, but now I see this is a semantics argument.
They both belong to the same corporation. I think the distinction you want to make is asinine.
To illustrate: MW2 was developed by Infinity Ward, a subsidiary of Activision, in turn a subsidiary of Activision-Blizzard.
SC2 was developed by blizzard, a subsidiary of Activision-Blizzard.
The money's all going to the same place.
Disney owns ESPN and Pixar. Does that mean Pixar and ESPN are the same company?
Ford owns Aston Martin and Mazda. Does that mean they are the same company?
no because starcraft 2 is a extremely well tested and polished product MW2 is just a very big beta test
They are the same company. That doesn't mean the products are identical across subsidiaries. I'm not claiming that IW made Starcraft.
