I had a bunch of fun practice matches against another giant bomber, and I found while so micro intensive, lifting up armies with your phoenix is so much fun, and can be really easy to harass with. Its expensive as hell, but is satisfying. Unfortunatly its countered pretty hard by spine crawlers, as you unfortunately can't lift buildings. But overloads melt.

2 gate is always nice against zerg, but you really need to have a viable strategy after harassment otherwise you'll be open to attack. Since phoenixes usually illicit the mass hydra reaction its often times a good thing to go collosus and stalkers to mop things up if they get out of hand. A few templar also make a nice stain on the battlefield. :)

I would actually probably caution against going collosi after a phoenix harrass unless you're already on two bases.  You simply won't have the gas.

Also I've always found it a bit more dangerous than most, particularly in the lower division league matches where zerg doesn't fast expand, and thus gets enough of a land army to crush me provided my force field micro isn't up to par.

Oh its extremly dangerous, I normally 2 gate at natural to fast expand, but I was trying somthing else. And the mass hydras, while good, a cannon wall plus lift works well.
My real issue was dealing with zerglings without cannons, cannot lift.
BTW I never build a gateway unit.

That's uh...yeah.  Most zerg players aren't abusing this aspect of a robotics bay army yet, but immortals are really immobile and collosi are really vulnerable to everything without stalker/zealot support.  Against what you just described, a single nydus worm into your base would wreck your day pretty hard.

@Turambar:  Never built a robo either, only phoenixes for the first part, then eventually void rays.

@tankintheair315:   I'm going to have to see some of your replays because your describing that strategy makes it sound like the most vulnerable thing ever to early aggression.

@Turambar:  Sorry didn't save, not in recent. It is very open, which is why you must scout it out.

@tankintheair315: Dude.. That's just not viable. Try going "no gateway" in the beginning versus someone who knows what they are doing...

while phoenix play is fun it is like you said very micro intensive and that can mean your macro will slip up unless you are very good at multi tasking. which means that they could end up wining but just have more stuff.
If you want to see a pro use phoenix then you should watch some of Nony's (liquid tyler's) PvZ

@h0lgr: Again you gotta scout, and once you get out some phenioxes you can put on lots of pressure, killing loads of overloards and supply blocking them.

@tankintheair315: I love it too.  Phoenix speed is amazing vs. zerg
