Anyone think Torchlight II will be coming out during this time?

I'd say it's highly unlikely that a game will be released during the sale (Endless Space was already apparently rescheduled to avoid being released during the sale).
Also, not to mention that it would be a terrible idea to release a game during the sale, considering that it would get completely buried D:
I'm going to buy really bad games and gift them to people out of spite. Main targets: Darkest of Days and Farming Simulator.
@zudthespud: @nintendoeats is a big fan of that, I hear. Also, @Video_Game_King will take almost anything.

ooh, don't forget Roller coaster Rampage!
Only interested in a few things. But its always interesting to see how low some of the stuff goes. But again i don't buy games i don't need just because they are cheap.

I won a 'competition' in this 'community' and was 'gifted' a pony simulator on Steam. I wrote a blog about my experience, and I'm still bitter.

Steam hasn't been showing up searches at certain times and gets slow... That might only mean one thing.
I wouldn't get your hopes up =|

Where can one find this 'pony simulator'? Asking for a friend...

Hey, gotta find some way to entertain one's self when the daily deals suck, right?
Quick question - you know the linked utility in the first post to tell you if can play certain games or not? Well among checking other games I ran it to check that I can play Civ 5 on my laptop. I have the Civ 5 demo and loved it and want to buy Civ 5 (and poss the expansion) if it goes in the sale. The demo plays fine on my computer. No problems. But when I ran the utility it says that my video card wouldn't be sufficient to play the actual game? I have an acer aspire laptop with an Intel R HD graphics card. So basically, since I can play the demo okay, surely I'll be able to play the actual game right? On other games where the utility said I couldn't play the game, it was always my video card that failed the test, so is this just some kind of error? Help! :)
Also, I'm so excited for the Steam sale it's unreal. I want it to start already!
@beaktastic: Demos are always better benchmarks than CYRI, and Civ 5 has an incredibly low graphics mode anyway. However, you're experience may vary on the final product, and you'll never really know until you buy it.
@WLF68: I thought this might be the case too, that would put the end of a 10-day sale on July 12th. Unfortunately, Steam usually updates deals on a Tuesday not Monday.

You have to understand that what CYRI does is take you laptops technical information (the model of each component) and runs it through a database. Since you don't have a video card (what you do have is an Intel chipset), when it runs the information through a database it usually wont get any information out of it. What you can do to be sure is install GPU-Z and note what your core clock and memory clock are (perhaps shading clock but I have no idea how Intel chipsets work, I just know nVidia has it and AMD doesn't) and compare those numbers to the recommended card. For Civ 5 I compared my card to a 4850 (625 core and 993 memory) as it is considered to be the recommended card. My scpecs are 940 and 1100 respectively so I know for a fact I can run it. The basic game requirements needed to run the game are only 600 core and 500 memory.
@beaktastic: Agreed with others, the demo is the best benchmark & if you can run the game on the lowest graphic settings then it should be okay (or at least a good test to see). Also until you get a better pc you might want to avoid the really large maps unless they fixed that in the new expansion.
barely any packs or achievements in the registry, dont hold your hopes up for it starting anytime soon. The july 12th the Cubemen dev blabbed out (and recanted) still seems the most likely.
On a semi-related note, trimmed my backlog a bit by playing and finishing RB6 Vegas 2, i still hated the last levels just like I hated them on the 360 years ago

I can't believe you registered just to post this...
1. To find out exactly what you have: open start menu, type dxdiag and hit enter
2. Under system, make note of processor and memory; then under display make note of Device name
3. Compare to system requirements for the game you want to run on steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930/
4. if you still aren't sure post your results from #2 on the forums and someone will help you
Being able to run the demo isn't a good indication on whether you can play Civ 5 as the game gets extremely hardware intense the further in you get, I wouldn't buy it unless you meet recommended system requirements at a bare minimum.
Fire up a classic game that you love, turn off the AC and make some cocoa. Strike up a blazing fire and wrap yourself in an electric blanket. Torture yourself while you wait for the Steam Summer Sale. Either that or just play an old game you haven't played before. Blockbuster still does rentals people. If you have played everything under the sun, then you need to re-evaluate your gaming habit and take up a second hobby, duders.
Already bought Darkness 2 and Syndicate for a total of $27.49 on Amazon. I am ready for more (specifically The Witcher 2)
Everyone keeps making assumptions about when the sale is going to start and then winding up entirely disappointed. HEre's a tip: assume nothing about when Valve is going to do something. Remember that Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is still not out.

Words to live by.
Damnit. Don't you make me buy the witcher 2 early nowEveryone keeps making assumptions about when the sale is going to start and then winding up entirely disappointed. HEre's a tip: assume nothing about when Valve is going to do something. Remember that Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is still not out.

Oh god oh god oh god oh god. Fucking Steam sales, like Valve doesn't have enough of my money already. Need to be careful, though, my computer is crap so I may end up buying things that I can't run worth a damn... but those things I buy will be dirt fucking cheap! WOO!
I did that, it's a dangerous road because I justified buying a whole new computer just to play them. Then when I got said computer a Steam sale happened right away and I kinda... went crazy. Now I have like 300 steam games I've bought, and I've barely had an account for 2 years.
@Kidavenger: I was helping him out. I can assume he already knew how to check his processor and RAM. His issue was with his video card or chipset in his case. The information you gave wouldn't help him at all, he would still have no idea if his chipset could handle the game or not. I simply gave instructions on how to check the chipsets ability to be in par with the recommended graphics card.
Only reason I want it to hurry is because my patience with Walking Dead is whining. I played the first episode in a friend's house... and episode 2 just currently came out. And I don't have it. I'm just trying to wait for the sale first...
Off topic but why does the "Game is currently unavailable" thing appears? It has always intrigued me. Isn't the game installed in my computer? >.<
For me the excitement of guessing and hoping when the sale will start is half of the fun. I dont really plan on getting more than 2 or 3 games, so the sale part is just going to be another sale. The excitement and anticipation is great, especially when you spend your Mondays and Thursdays in the Steam forum for the summer sale. Fun times.
I am ready to relive my holiday sale experience!
"Ooh, Super Racoon Shooter Quest 9? That looks interesting. And it's only a dollar?"
'Sorry, you already own a copy of this game'
Well, this sale "Secret of the Magic Crystals" -will- be mine!

What? I don't wanna play the games. Buying them is my hobby.
I'm wondering, Isn't steam going to earn less money this year since they are taking ages to begin the summer sale, and now amazon is doing a huge summer sale aswell. I mean, alot of people are already buying the games they wanted on sale on amazon, isn't steam going to lose with this? think about it

How many games does the Amazon sale have? Two? Lol.
