So according to this leaked email the steam summer sale starts tomorrow. Given the recent tragic news it feels really petty to even bring this up but I thought I may as well let people know. I know I'll probably buy some stuff but really I can't muster up much energy to care much about video games at this point in time.

Steam Summer Sale
I am less impressed with steam sales every year. Amazon and other sites have out steam saled the steam sales IMHO.
Tell me when FF7 goes on sale. That's really all I'm interested in (unless you guys don't mind me pestering the shit out of you to gift me things).
This is going to be the worst Steam Summer Sale for me if it starts tomorrow because I've been jobless for a bit and don't start my new one until the 15th meaning I'll be totally broke for it (and won't be able to buy any games).

This will be my first steam sale after getting a job-ass job, so...
this won't be good.
Nope, not one bit.

Gabe is reading this rubbing his hands together cackling while minions surround him sharpening his knives.
@video_game_king: I've got a copy of Boarderlands GOTY and Terraria if you want a copy.
Heck if anyone wants either of those message me on steam...rentfn
Steam hasn't had the best sales for a long while now, so I'm not really excited this year. Green Man Gaming, GamersGate, GetGamesGo, etc, have better deals all year 'round than Steam's been having during its big sales. I know they'll have a few that will be at the lowest they've been, but they don't have much reason to compete with the little guys on price for the most part. The difference in prices is mostly negligible though, and I'm sure the deals will be good enough for sensible people who don't check up on game deals compulsively to save an extra $1.70 on that copy of Binary Domain they've been wanting. I have a problem.
This is the first steam sale where i actually have a good pc and not just some dumb laptop so im pretty pumped.
Gonna buy a shitload of games i'll probably never play....fuck im already too far gone to save
@starfishhunter9: I'm less and less impressed because I own everything lol. On a side note, no sale will EVER match the Christmas sale of 2011 (free random games!)
@thebunnyhunter: Me too. I just built a grat PC in February and I'm looking to get Bioshock Infinite if it goes on sale . Haven't played it yet and I've avoided spoilers so far but I don't know how much longer that can happen.
I'm sure I'll pick up a few titles, probably even some impulse buys. It shouldn't be as brutal as some previous sales though. I own most of the major games I want. I'm actually more interested in a lot of the smaller indie titles.
I remember my first couple of Steam sales when I had a decent job and money. Yikes! Like people have already said, your first Steam sale when you have money is the greatest and worst thing ever.
As with everything else Valve does, the Steam Sale is another example of Valve leading it's industry.
All of the other sites - GMG, GamersGate (which is almost as old as Steam, I might add - and very big in Europe) and of course Amazon, get their codes by buying in bulk, at a discount from Valve.
Valve wants Steam to have a place as a platform, ignoring short term profit for long term gains.
As a result, Valve has given PC gaming what no other platform has, actual competition over price.

Bioshock Infinite is currently on sale on Green Man Gaming (if the link doesn't work you're probably in a different region, just go to the GMG homepage, you can't miss it) for $30. If you use the voucher code GMG20-F202F-UI40F at checkout, that'll take another 20% off and drop it to $24. Chances are slim that it will drop lower than that in the Steam sale, though never impossible. With the coupon they've got it at 60% off, and I'd be willing to wager Steam will hit at 50%, considering the release date and the popularity of the game. The GMG deal is only going to last for a day though, with about 19 hours left at the time of this post. Hopefully this is on GMG today because it will be in the first day of Steam sales, in which case you'd be able to compare prices in a couple of hours.
Edit: Yup, I was right. $30 on Steam at 50% off, $24 on GMG after voucher at 60%.

same, I spend less and less every year on steam, but in general I like the verity of choice, of steam sales. The QVC hecticness of it all makes you keep looking back every 12 hours or so, even if it is just to see if you already own the game or not.

Well, there you go. Looks like I own Infinite now. It brought it down to ~$18 in my region which is a fair price all things considered.
Been around for steam sales since they started doing this so i've got all the big collections i wanted. I'm at this point where i get every game one at a time as they come out or go on sales for the first time and this is where Steam's competition really shines. No one yet as ever offered the scope of a Steam Sale where everything save for the latest big release is on deal for an average of 50% but when you've indulged in said sales for a while it does lose some of its appeal.
Like every year i'm probably gonna buy 2-3 older games i forgot about for a total of like 10$.
Maybe Company of Heroes. CoH2 seems nice but everything i read about it says it's more of the same so might as well get the first one.
Maybe i can finally commit to Dark Souls too.
K, so apparently we are keeping it all in this thread.

@thebunnyhunter: the square pack seems ok sleeping dogs is half price now but i bet that will get cheaper
@beachthunder: I've always hated you for being such an in-depth indie game junkie. I will find you one day and I will hurt you!
You're amazing bro.
@beachthunder: Thanks for posting those. I love me some small, cheap indie games.
the sale seems very underwhelming to me right now...want me some publisher packs
Dude, it's only been an hour.
For all the Steam Sale newbies out thereDON'T buy anything on sale that isn't a Daily Deal or a Flash Sale until the final Day! Games that go on sale early on that aren't on a daily deal or a flash sale will most likely at some point show up on a daily deal or flash sale for less! Be patient!

He's trying to trick you!!! BUY IT ALL NOW!!!!!!!!
But seriously...
Haven't seen that graphic. That's spot-on. Nothing interesting me much other than Endless Space right now. Basically have everything on that front page.
But seriously...
Ha, great. Although, you should also mention that if something is already 75+% off, then you're probably safe to just buy it.
