Indigo Prophecy was my first game. I think I bought it after the quick look.

A digital distribution service owned by Valve Corporation. Originally created to distribute Valve's own games, Steam has since become the de facto standard for digital distribution of PC games.
What was the First Game You Bought on Steam?
I BOUGHT HALF LIFE 2 WHICH GAVE ME STEAM, not the other way around. Launch day bb.
Worship me you dirty console plebes.
Counter Strike: Source. The second thing was The Orange Box and Team Fortress2 is still one of the games that I play the most.
Well I bought the Half-life pack at a store, but I could only play counter strike with this strange program called steam. But, the source pack was the first thing that I bought using the store itself... That was a christmas present to myself way back in the day
I beta tested a version of steam before it came out. It was a horrible piece of shit back then :( The only game on it at the time was counter-strike, if I recall.
I remember the error log folder for steam created so many .txt files that windows would crash when I opened the folder. I took a screenshot of the folder properties and it was like almost a million files... I really need to go find that :D
Hmm. Well my Civilization 5 boxed copy was the steam version, so that? Im not sure I've ever actually downloaded a game from steam. It's all codes from humble bundles and PC games I bought that ended up just being the steam version anyways. I am not a pc gamer by any stretch of the imagination though.
First thing that registered was a friend's friend's serial I was using to play the original Counter Strike (pre 1.6). One day Steam just locked the serial to my account. According to the store records, first thing I ever bought was Borderlands. Though I question that, their record keeping might not go back far enough to see my first true purchase.
I think the first game I ever registered was Dawn of War 2 but the first game I actually purchased on Steam was Torchlight on my Macbook Pro. Since then I've bought a few more games for it. But yeah, I got into Steam properly pretty late and would use it much more if I had a gaming PC.
A friend of mine gifted me a copy of Half-Life 2. I imagine the next game I purchased directly on steam was probably Left 4 Dead or the id pack.
Half-Life 2. I guess I was technically in the CS 1.6 beta in 2003 when it first launched. What a piece of trash back then... it has gotten marginally better, but there are some weird unfixed crap that I am still not super happy with.
Hmm, I didn't end up joining Steam until a long while after it came out, my join date is Feb 17, 2008. So, I think it's safe to say my first purchase was actually NOT Half-Life 2 since it was outdated at that point. It's kind of hard to remember what it was, honestly, but I'm pretty sure the first thing I bought was a combined pack of TF2 & Garry's Mod.
Coming from console gaming, I wasn't aware at the time of all the crazy Steam sales that go on all the time, but as a newbie to steam, I bought it at full price, and figured It was good because I could install a bunch of other source mods. Honestly, in retrospect, it was kind of a bad idea, considering I could have waited for a steam sale and just bought the valve complete pack for probably about $20 more. Oh well, at least I had fun with them, and I still went buckwild on my first few steam sales. Now I have about 275 games in my library. Sheesh.
