    Here's the link!

    Top 10 of 2010 List
    • Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision) – $98.2 Million USD
    • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision) – $39.4 Million USD
    • Left 4 Dead 2 (Valve) – $36.0 Million USD
    • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ( Electronic  Arts) – $25.4 Million USD
    • Sid Meier’s Civilization V (2K Games) – $21.9 Million USD
    • Portal (Valve) – $20.0 Million USD
    • Fallout: New Vegas (Bethesda Softworks) – $17.0 Million USD
    • Metro 2033 (THQ) – $13.4 Million USD
    • Mafia II (2K Games) – $11.9 Million USD
    • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising (THQ) – $10.8 Million US

What we can take from this information, a lot of you idiots bitch about BLOPS and then buy it regardless.  This includes MW2.  Good job, can't wait to see how you guys bitch about MW3 this year.

Despite selling BC2 for 7 fucking bucks, EA did a great job on PC.  Someone get the average price of BC2 and divide it by 25 million so we get a rough total of how many copies it sold for PC.  For COD games just divide it by 60.

Warhammer is up there, so that's good.  As I enjoy SC2, I am glad that another RTS is there...even if I don't like the competitive online.  But to each their own.

    Also, Portal is strong.

    Discuss.

    PS.  PC gaming dead, obviously.

I didn't bitch about MW2, and I also didn't buy it on PC.  I DID on the other hand bitch about Black Ops, which I didn't buy.

I didn't buy any of those games actually.  Portal... that shit was free and it still sold 20 mil.

damn. thats great to hear. i love steam and i am glad that it proves a great service (with constant sales on good titles) can be super successful.

i keep saying that if they just reduce the price of games they would likely sell more. i often buy things on sale on steam with no regret. but when $60 is on the table i get really picky.

Value does a lot of things right by us and I am glad it is working out well for them.

I wonder how well Call of Duty would sell on PC if it had no multiplayer and the game's single player campaign freezes as soon you you start it.

I am surprised by portals sales because If it was like 5 bucks on different sales, it also was given away for free multiple times.

...yeah that's what got me.  I can't figure out who didn't pick it up for free.  It was free when OSX got Steam, free during the summer, and once before the holidays.  Then if you owned HL2 it was only 2 bucks during the sale.

@HaltIamReptar: It's easier with BLOPS cause it's been a flat 60 bucks, but MW2 was on sale for 30 bucks for a weekend.  BLOPS is the only one that can be fully known, the rest had sales.

How could Portal make $20m during 2010!?!?! Not only do I expect that most people bought it in 2008 or 2009, but they also gave it away for free at one point. Anyone who wants it should have had it and there should have been no need to buy it in 2010.

Not saying they don't deserve t, they do. I love that game, but that so many people payed money for it during 2010...very unexpected.

Good for Valve, I had kind of forgotten about PC gaming for a long time and then when they released Steam for Mac I jumped back in. Now steam is the only reason that I have a Windows partition on my MacBook Pro.

PC gaming was never dying, but there was the threat that it might die if something didn't come along to make it safe for developers again. And Steam has done that. I have to admit that until I picked up Steam, I hadn't bought a game for the PC in years. I mean, where do you even go to buy PC games? Hardly anyone carries a decent selection. Steam makes it easy to access games, and unites the PC gaming community. It's been an amazing success.

As for the Portal thing ... I'm with everyone else. I picked it up for free. Obviously some people still got it when it wasn't. Strange that it's still doing so well so long after its release.

I get the impression those Portal statistics are false... Didn't they give it away for FREE last year? Maybe they counted those as sales?

Anyway ignoring that, what we can deduce is Steam > Boxed PC games now. No going back I guess,

As always with steam, those figures are a pure fiction and could be wildly inaccurate, given Valves non-disclosure policy regarding sales numbers.

Im incredibly glad to see that metro 2033 did that well....
Hopefully this will show THQ that they really are onto something here

and im willing to bet that more people as of right now own portal than own call of duty black ops... 3 years in and it sold 20 million dollars worth and it was free multiple times during the year... AND it costs less than black ops

Also, Starcraft and WoW are so huge that Blizzard has its own fucking distribution network. Also, 2 of those games are by Valve. Guess what Valve runs? Steam. Steam is the first outlet for all Valve games. So any other version of a Valve game is the port. Just saying.

I dunno, but if they do stuff like Apple and keep 30% of the sales then they made about 300 million just by assumption.   This of course doesn't include Valve games, as they keep that 100%.
