Oh, so good!
I'll start off saying I never played the first Steam World Dig. I played a couple of hours of Steam World Heist and really liked the world and aesthetic of the game. I completely overlooked Steam World Dig, but after hearing all the positive talks by the Giant Bomb staff I decided to give it a go.
This game, to put it simply, is a metroidvania-like where you dig, and mine your way through different areas, killing enemies, gaining XP and gold to upgrade the tools you gain throughout the game. You come to areas you can't access without a certain tool or upgrade you'll get later. Ya know, one of those games. What sets this apart from other games of this genre is it's unique style and mechanics. It's just a fun game to play. You're rewarded for walking through areas and having to watch what you mine so you don't trap yourself from moving up with tools later that make exploring way more enjoyable.
There are times where I want to sit in a dark room with a story driven game and just be absorbed into it's world and focus on nothing else. Other times I just want something that's not overly complicated or story based that I can play while I listen to a video or a podcast in the background. Steam World Dig 2 is a great game for that. After about 15 hours I still have several things to do if I want to 100% the game, and honestly, I don't want it to end.
