So I guess it's fitting that this announcement took place in Dubai? Oh boy, it's more rushdown. Seems to be a very straightforward character with a multi-directional tatsu and a lunge kick and a roll that goes through projectiles (V-Skill?). Only cool thing is his V-Trigger which puts a huge tornado projectile on the screen which I guess controls space and lets him set up offense? Still seems pretty lame, but hopefully Combofiend can show us some stuff about what makes the character unique and fun to play.

Also yo that Super is fucking boooring.

I'm definitely going to wait for some proper footage of him, I've always liked the Arabic design aesthetic. I liked Shaheen (the only remotely interesting new T7 character) a lot too when he was shown for Tekken. The one thing that strikes me as odd is that weird small projectile tornado that comes out and flies upward in an arc, it's like some curvy anti-air fireball thing which kind've looks strange in a bad way. Definetly doesn't have that striking wow factor that Necalli did with his showing.

@starvinggamer: Hah! well maybe someone with the PC version will mod in Air Man. Now that I think of the roster Vega, Birdie and now Rashid are the only characters that I generally don't have interest in. Somehow an unfinished roster of 16 has a larger pool of characters I want to play than USFIV.

A wild Infiltration appears in that 3rd video, that got me more excited than this character. It's still hard to completely pass judgment with videos of this length/quality. He has some kind of yellow eyepatch? Or is that a scouter from dragon ball Z? Maybe his V-trigger is really awesome.

I dunno he has Vegeeta's scouter so he's pretty cool in my book.

This guy has a scouter. That's pretty cool.

Unlike stuff like wrestling and anime which are generally better relegated to a single thread, fighting games are video games. So when there's something of note that happens, like a new SFV character reveal, that's totally worthy of its own thread, especially since a lot of people that would like to know about something like this probably won't be engaged enough to be checking that other thread on a frequent basis. You're free to discuss it in both places, but we're not going to restrict all fighting game discussion to a single thread.

Cool. He sorta looks like the Prince of Persia with a scouter. That tornado ain't a throw but I'll take it! Man this guy looks really mobile, I can see a bunch of resets and mixups coming from people who play him.

I'm into him. It's tough to know with new characters, but I think I like this guy. It's nothing like the reaction I had to seeing Hakan or Juri("They nailed it!") , but he looks fine.

Oh boy, when will Capcom learn no one wants to hear their English VO. Anyway the character looks pretty cool even if his design seems a little generic, it doesn't look bad from what I've seen here.

@hassun: That's what I have NRS fighters for. Regardless though, I think there will turn out to be some very powerful zoners in the game anyway. There will just be some difficult matchups, Bison, Nash and Rashid come to mind.

Gamespot UK's Tamoor Hussain was tweeting about some of the awful racist shit people were saying about this announcement. It made me real sad/angry.

Also, I can see another Marvel VS Capcom matchup just waiting to happen.

He looks good! I saw that gnarly-looking hop kick thing, and that forward-moving whirlwind move, and got excited because they reminded me of KI-style unreactable half-screen low crush moves. Hope some of this stuff is safe on block, but that's probably asking too much, right?

He looks fine, but the reaction I had was similar to Abel. Looks fun, but kind of plain.

Waiting on the next Juri. A character I see and instantly fall for.

I can get behind Rashid but I feel I have to say that Abel was my main in 4.

Seems sorely lacking on info. Don't they normally detail all of a character's specials and whatnot in these posts?

@bson: To be fair you should not compare designs from the late 1980s and early 1990s with designs of today either.

Not to mention that, while the designs were very cartoony-stereotypical, they weren't generally laughing at them or treating them like idiots either. I feel people often forget that part.

I think the V-Skill is the roll because I've seen an EX version of the dive kick telling me its just a special move.

Also, anyone else think that with this Rashid announcement, Urien could be out? His V-Trigger is basically Aegis Reflector so Urien would be kind of redundant with only 16 characters total.

@hippie_genocide: Yes I think it all but confirms that Urien won't be in. Claw's rose throw implies no Dudley so we'll probably get Boxer back. Necalli implies no Blanka and Viper. R. Mika and Rashid imply no Fuerte.

I just saw in one of the videos where he jumped behind the opponent then dive kicked back down toward them and he was glowing orange like an EX move. Probably the QCB+K one. Looked to be a good set up with the Aegis Tornado.
