    Versus Fighting Cup [Premier Event]

First of all, a shoutout to Michael Martin for traveling down to Brazil to help with the English commentary. I'm sure Mad Reis and KidMagia appreaciate the help. While English commentary isn't something I necessarily need to enjoy watch these fights, it takes down a barrier for English speaking viewers who might not tune in otherwise and thus gives the LATAM region more exposure to the rest of the world. It'd be nice if someone would've done this for the earlier LATAM ranking events. I feel like (based off of no data) that the LATAM region gets glossed over by a lot of viewers and that bums me out because they have lots of good players. Players that just don't get as many chances to compete in the CPT. I hope that's something they improve next season, give the LATAM region some more damn premiers. I feel like Game Over should've been one this year. It definitely had the production quality of one.

On to the tournament results, Haitani gets his first CPT 2018 tournament win with his previous best being 3rd at an FV x SEA Major Malaysia. The 700 additional points jumps Haitani up 12 spots making him 13th on the global leaderboard. He is absolutely in Capcom Cup now. Mago has been showing up towards the end of the season and secures himself a 2nd place finish making him 21st on the global leaderboard and more than likely is safe to qualify for Capcom Cup.

Let's talk about Zenith, not only did he make 3rd place in a tournament that had several Japanese invaders (none of which he actually faced haha) in it but he also lost in round 1 of winner's to someone I have never heard/didn't make Top 48. That's one hell of a tournament run. Zenith knocked out Crossover (the LATAM Regional Champ), ChuChu, Brolynho, and HKDASH. Unforunately, short of winning Red Bull Battlegrounds or the LCQ, we won't be seeing Zenith anymore this year.

Doomsnake is doing the lord's work and eliminated two Japanese Abigail mains, Itabashi Zangief and StormKubo. I'm such a big Doomsnake fan and I'm sad that he probably won't get into Capcom Cup this year even though he is at that level of skill. I would love to see him win the LCQ though. He's the best and most committed Vega in the world and I hope he never changes. Very fun player to watch.

Rounding out the rest of Top 8, Itabashi Zangief and HKDASH made 5th place. Itabashi is now in a really good place among the Top 26 with the 130 points he recieved. HKDASH is one of the strongest M. Bison players from LATAM. 5th is a really solid finish. At 431 global points, I find it highly likely that this the end of his CPT 2018 season. StormKubo and Robinho_FGC round it out at 7th place. StormKubo isn't quite in Capcom Cup, but he's so close. He's 40 points away from Nemo who is currently in line to get the auto-qualifying spot for the Asia region. I would be shocked if he (and Nemo) aren't showing up for Red Bull Battlegrounds. Robinho_FGC, I've never heard of you before this tournament and your match with Zenith didn't even get streamed, so I didn't even see you compete. You beat Keoma though, and that's pretty impressive. Maybe next year you'll make a bigger splash.

    LATAM Regional Finals

Crossover wins big this weekend and becomes the LATAM Regional Final Winner and gets into Capcom Cup. I honestly was expecting Brolynho to win it all and was really hoping Doomsnake would pull it off. Doomsnake did really well making it to winner's final. He lost that and the loser's final, but he made them real close. Brolyhno seemed really tilted a few times and that definitely affect his play. If Pauloweb beat me like he got beat, I'd be salty too though. I feel like we'll probably see Brolynho at the Red Bull Battlegrounds, he actually has a chance of hitting the Top 26 if he could win that (maybe... MAYBE if he got 2nd). But more than likely the LCQ is the only chance for another LATAM player to make it into Capcom Cup.

    Global Leaderboard Top 26 + Auto-Qualifiers

Not a whole lot of movement on the leaderboard after this weekend. The biggest thing is Crossover securing his spot in Capcom Cup by winning the LATAM Regional Finals. Haitani, Mago, and Itabashi Zangief also moved up on the leaderboard. Haitani jumped up 12 ranks and Mago moved up 5. I would say they're both safe to qualify for Capcom Cup. Itabashi moved up to 23rd and is pretty safe as well. Honestly, if he got passed up on the leaderboard he would probably get the auto-qualification spot for the Asia region. But, again, I think he's pretty safe.

I don't see much movement in the top 26 to happen this weekend. Maybe Punk will go up a few spots if he can win this weekend. Maybe someone below Top 26 could set themselves up to get on there by winning NA East Two and finishing high at Red Bull Battlegrounds. Just three more tournaments and the 31 spots for Capcom Cup will be finalized.

    33rd at Versus Fighting Cup,

    1st at LATAM Regional Finals

The CPT 2018 season is nearly over. NA East Two online event is this Saturday and it's the last ranking event for the NA region (I'm gonna compete in this, hopefully I can win a couple of matches before being eliminated). While there are still some ranking points to grab at the NA Finals the weekend after, the majority of the Top 8 for the NA Finals will be finalized after this event. More than likely, the only people that are in danger are Flash (who can't compete because he's on the West side of the US) and Smug. Smug is currently #8 on the NA Leaderboard with 80 points. Ideally, he needs to get 1st or 2nd. With at least 150 points (that a 2nd place finish would get him), someone from NA would have to win the open tournament, which is highly unlikely, to take his spot because the next lowest position only has 50 points. It'll be interesting to see how this all sets up for the NA Regional Finals, the last event before Capcom Cup.

    Next Weekend’s Event(s)

I'm gonna try some to do some miscellaneous posts in the break time between the NA Regional Finals and Capcom Cup. If anyone has any ideas for those, I would love some suggestions. I have a couple of ideas rolling around in my brain, the most obvious one being a fantasy bracket. If you have anyone thoughts please comment below, whether it's about the event or anything I could do to improve the blog.

    Thanks dude.

I feel incredibly stupid though because I just thought of a way to make this blog post take way less time and it's so damn simple. I've already got all the info organized in a google sheet. I should just screenshot that and post it. I'm so salty at myself. Example of the global leaderboard quickly done this way:

    I AM SALT!
