The game that started the biggest success in gaming 0

Super Mario Bros upgraded the gameplay of the original Mario Bros to a level nobody could imagine at the time. The game started having some diverse and clever level design each time you progressed throughout the game. The tight controls for it's time was very impressive, as well as having so many secrets hidden in the levels, starting the warps that became very famous in the franchise, and giving the first mainstream look at people trying hard to speedrun the game with that component of the gam...

Super Mario Bros. may be over-praised... perhaps, but certainly not OVER-RATED. 0

Super Mario Bros. for the original Nintendo is a classic for sure and it indeed deserves every last bit of respect it gets. This was the game that firmly put Nintendo on the map and no one can truly deny this. It was indeed an incredible plat-former at that particular time, but I personally think there were probably one or two I liked better with Wonder Boy and Pitfall (arcade version) coming to mind. However, as much as I still love and respect the hell out of this game and what it did for gami...

    Why not? 1

Why not? You know you’ve written too many reviews in your lifetime when you lie in bed at night and the words for a review for a random game begin to materialize in your head. The problem with this scenario is that once the flow of text starts to leak into your consciousness, then your night of sleep is lost, and the cogs in your brain spiral with one line after another, despite the knowledge that going to sleep would be the wiser move for your real life. So this is the result of one night’s ins...

A plumber out to save a Princess... it works! 0

Super Mario Bros. is a platforming game where you take control of a character by the name of Mario. You are in the Mushroom Kingdom and are set out to rescue Princess Peach who was captured by King Koopa. Enemies consist of Goombas, Koopas, pipe plants, and many others. The main plot of this game is to jump from platforms, and stomp on enemies heads to kill them. You can also go down some greens pipes, to collect coins or take a different route. You can collect coins within the game, and 100 co...

    Great Port 0

Super Mario Bros. on the Game Boy Advance is just like you remember it. It is a very well made port to the GBA. Mario takes on Bowser and tries to rescue the princess for his clutches. Mario can become big, throw fireballs, become invincible, and earn an extra-life. Two players? Add Luigi and you take turns playing. This is a very well made port to a video game classic, and I had no trouble playing it on my Game Boy Advance....

Just Like You Remember It 0

Mario? Check. Luigi? Check. Princess? Check. Bowser? Check. Toad? Check. Super Mario Bros. on the Game Boy Advance is like playing it on the Nintendo Entertainment System. They kept the same graphics, same gameplay. This NES classic has now come to a whole new generation of gamers. I find no fault in this NES classic ported to the GBA....

After all these years, Super Mario Bros. is still a great game. 0

Super Mario Bros. is still fun to play after all these years. This game is what made Mario famous and yet mysterious. I remember playing this game when I was only 2. Ever since this game came out for NES, I've had dreams and memories of this game. It was always an old childhood favorite of mine; but because time has caught up with my NES, I had to sell it with all its games. When I got a Wii and saw the game for Virtual Console, I knew that I was going to buy it without a doubt. It might be old,...

This Wasn't in My Job Description: A Review of Super Mario Bros. 0

Well, here it is. One of the best-selling, most easily recognizable games of all time: Super Mario Bros.Loosely based on "Donkey Kong," this was the first game that gave our overweight Italian friend his independent shove toward mainstream stardom, as well as an official name: Mario. Countless sales, sequels, and photo shoots later, it's no wonder he's addicted to shrooms.Let's dawn our overalls and shoot some fireballs, 'cause boys and girls, review time calls.STORY 4/5This is just one of those...

    The Real Musher-Man 0

This was the First "Real" Mario game out. True we had "Mario Bros." and "Donkey Kong" already out, but they where not THE Mario game. This was a first for a lot of Characters that we know and love. Some of the biggest names are Peach, Toad, and Bowser. In this game, Bowser or King Koopa, kidnapped Peach Toadstool, the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Now Mario Mario and Luigi Mario have to go and save her. These two plumbers are our heroes of the game. There are only three power ups to help you...

Front cover.Super Mario Brothers is a classic, without a doubt. The game is superb and justifies the prestige and pedigree to which Mario games are recognized for. If you have five dollars, spend it. You won't regret it.Mario's gameplay is finite and solid. Jumps made are precise, and just feel good. Many platformers have copied Mario's style, but they just can't compete. There's a fluidity to the jumping, and a feeling that cannot be mimicked or copied.Artistically, the colors are saturated, bu...

The game that saved the (videogame) world 0

Super Mario Bros may be the game that saved the games industry, the industry as it applied to the common man at least. Bad games and even worse business decisions had sunk the console industry and arcade in the United States in the early 1980s. Gaming on computers was poised to do well enough, but in danger of being a niche market only. In 1985 Nintendo released their home console, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), and this launch title, one of the greatest of all time in the platforming ...

    The perfect game. 0

There is not a single bad thing to say about Super Mario Bros. There aren't many new good things to say about it, either, since literally everyone (and also their mother) has played the game over the years, and loved it. You don't have to try to explain why SMB is so brilliant; it just is. And everybody knows it already!But... seriously, just why is Super Mario Bros. so good? The answer lies in its design. There's not a single line of code in Super Mario Bros. that is misplaced. It's all wired dow...

The Beginning of Modern Era Video Games 0

I mean yeah sure, before that you had Atari and that was fun and you had Nintendo arcade games, but even they, with their huge cabinets and bigger space could not compare to the ultimate Nintendo Entertainment System seller and killer-app, Super Mario Bros. Europe was addicted to computer games and the Famicom in Japan was a huge seller, unlike anything seen before, but in the US the story was different. The kids continued to enjoy video games but investors and toy stores had seen video games as...

A legend that still holds up today 0

Most people reading this review have probably played this game at least once. However, in case that statement is false, well it should not be. The fact that I still play Super Mario Bros. at least twenty years after I first tried it speaks volumes to how great the game holds up. In another twenty years, chances are that I will still feel the urge to play this game.    There have been many Mario "clones" over the years trying the duplicate the success this title has enjoyed. But there is  Perf...
