I deem Super Mario Galaxy an average game in terms of entertainment value, but one thing I've gotta hand to it is the way it does the 3-D world.  There's never a need for any of the following:

    • an invisible wall
    • a land mass completely surrounded by a vertical wall
    • a message that says "You are leaving the battlefield.  Return or be shot."
    • an algorithm that starts you at the far east of the map if you go too far west
    • an island ...

Oh wait, there are a couple of islands and they have invisible walls where the ocean ends.  Still, the developers did a good job.

I loved Super Mario Galaxy and I thought the way the whole game revolved around a number of planets suspended in the level worked really well.

I can't lie - I never thought about that.  It makes me realize that Miyamoto has a bit too much genius in his mind.

Indeed, I never thought about that either. It is actually kind of cool considering how pretty much every game that comes out has those sort of barriers.

It's small planets in space, of course there won't be invisible walls - there's gravity! :P
