Grats! I'm debating whether it's worth buying a switch for, I've never really played much in the way of Mario games growing up with Sega and then moving onto PS and PC. When you get the chance to play I would love to know whether you think it's a good jumping point for Mario or if I should go back and play the older 3D games first.
Are there the traditional Mario suits/power-ups that give you unique powers? Or is everything purely based on taking things over with the hat?
@pompouspizza: Which websites are these leaking games early? I need to know where to order next time!
Last game I got early was when a friend and I found a store in London breaking street date for Pokemon X and Y, but I don't think I can remember the last time I had an online game show up before release date.
@bollard: if you are in the UK, TheGameCollection is generally a safe bet for early copies. Most things I've preordered from them have come at least a day early if not two or three.
@pompouspizza: How are the Mario noises?
Are there loot boxes?
God i hope so.
@bollard: I got it from SimplyGames in the UK.
@jeremyf: He sounds like Mario.
@pompouspizza: who did you order from? Just saw your response above. Simply Games are decent. One of the many retailers who don't care much about release date.
I chose Tesco for a change and they probably won't send it out until tomorrow.
Edit: Right after I posted this I pre-ordered Ultra Sun with simplygames because they have it for only £27!
@puchiko: Chicken Gyros.
@rejizzle: I have yet to reach the corn.
what does the cartridge feel like
what does the cartridge taste like?
What is the starting environment?
Is there a hub world like Mario 64 and if so how does Mario enter the levels? Doors/pipes/paintings?
Are there limitations to playing with the pro controller?
Why is Mario interacting with humans?
@arbitrarywater: That's the right question.
@dgtlty: The starting area is called the Cap Kingdom.
There is no hub world and structurally it feels very different from any 3D Mario game I’ve ever played. Each world seems pretty large and it’s much more about exploring the environment and figuring out where moons are hidden and not really hard platforming, at least so far.
One of the challenges you had to do to get a moon was walk in along a circular path with lines telling you where to go and eventually the lines disappear and you have to score over a certain amount of point to get the moon. It’s filled with fun little things like that.
I have not noticed any limitations with the pro controller as you can do everything with it that you can with the Joycon. However, they clearly want you to play it with the Joycon detached and I can see how the motion controls would feel much more natural because you just have to shake the right Joycon rather than the whole pro controller but I haven’t tried it yet.
I have yet to reach New Donk City so I can’t tell you.

Yeah, I already beat the game. Ehhh. I mean, it was okay I guess. I wouldn't say there was much room for disappointment since Mario is known to be a not that great series. Just know you're going in and getting what you expect. ;)
Fucking 2 hr walking simulators permeating every franchise now amirite? Hope you didn't play so long you couldn't get a Steam refund.

Got it on Origin actually.
Kotaku did a great piece about the motion controls in the game.
