The whole betting angle with Steal My Sunshine is really ingenious. I want to track the gambles of our Beast Buds as they trek through this 8.0 "Great" Game.

BETTING RULES(as established by the Giant Bomb Gaming Commission)

• No IOU's; in order to bet a shine, the player must physically own said shine.
• No betting against yourself, but Pete Rose-style betting on the self is permitted (it's unclear how it will affect their Hall of Fame status though)

vinny was really just throwing the shines around last episode. i was baffled by how dumb the bets he was taking were, but i guess a show's a show and the bets add something more to it.

@the_tribunal: Yeah, Vinny is a showman to the end and will do dumb things for our sake.

@tnecniv: seriously at least half of Dan’s Ill gotten gains this last episode were from Vinny just offering up easy bets lol.

I continue to wish that Giant Bomb had a SaltyBet system for betting, especially for a video series like this one. Probably not the best use of site engineer time, but boy would it be fun.

Who will start the gambling addiction intervention?

Could you possibly make a Civilization style recap showing the exchange of said shines via color coding over time? Great work thus far!

Notes:

A strong performance from Mr. Caravella brought his record to one above .500. It was a tough day for Abby, as she went 1-4, but was able to get multiple in-game shines to mitigate the damage. Alex accepted and offered no bets, and got his one shine early on with the squid race. Despite a candy-induced stomachache, Dirty Dan gained five shines.

Final thoughts

Light episode bet and shine-wise. Only five new ones for the crew. Alex has not had a bet since July 26. Vindog and Dirty Dan both went 1-1 on the day, and Abby went 1-2.

So, I also thought this series would be a great opportunity to track some stats. I do alot of data visualization for the hospital I work for, so I thought I would spend some time recording various data points from the series so far and work on a visualization. Its a bit rough and still in a draft state, but I plan to continue adding to the data set as the series goes on.

Very eventful episode this week, TEN new shines for the crew, and TWO red shine swaps! Alex squandered his high win-percentage (5-1) by taking on two L's early on to Vinny and Abby. He also lost a good chunk of shines to the Vinny swap, but got an in-game shine and currently ranks second. Little Orphan Abby hit the jackpot when Daddy Vinbucks picked her to bestow his 21 shine cup to in exchange for her 3 shines. Vindog himself got three in-game shines, including the infamous Pachinko level, and boasts an impressive 23-15 betting record. Dirty Dan, as per usual, was a lightning rod of controversy. Despite the bombardment of collusion accusations, Ryckert had his second five-shine game of the season.
