I'm not a huge fan of the GBA version that I've been playing on 3DS (although, I've been told this is an inferior way to play...)

I really don't like the game at all from a gameplay perspective, but in my opinion when you're making something that polarizing, it means you're doing something different. And I'm personally willing to overlook a lot of flaws if you're being original. Games like Heavy Rain or Mirror's Edge were not fantastic pieces of video game genius (at least in my opinion), but because they are so unlike everything else, I would be happy to see more of them.

Also, the speedrunning community around this game is awesome, and it is always amazing to watch :'D

Yoshi's Island is amazing. Blew the shit out of my high school mind... and I wasn't even on drugs yet. I just touched Fuzzy to get dizzy and then Poochy came and took care of the rest.

I never really thought of Yoshi's Island as "Super Mario World 2". It always just seemed like its own separate spinoff. As its own thing, I think Yoshi's Island was great and unique. I am "for" it.

I'd never played it when it came out so for me it was pretty recent, using an emulator on my Nexus 7 but I liked what I've played of it, it's a fun little game. I'd agree calling it a sequel to SMW didn't do it any favours but it's pretty rad.

I'm all for it. The gameplay is just as responsive as any Mario game, the presentation both in graphics and music are amazingly unique and the boss fights are memorable (The baby Bowser boss fight was way better than the bowser fight in super Mario world). It really is one of the greatest games for the SNES.

Huh? Yoshi's Island is great. I can see maybe debating its place among Nintendo's classics, but debating whether it's a good game or not is silly.

To put it kindly, the game is just odd compared to contemporary Mario games in that era. That doesn't make it bad but it doesn't make me want a sequel either.

Also, I'm loving these bold and insane proclamations of Yoshi's Island > Super Mario World. That's definitely not something I agree with, Yoshi's Island is fantastic, but SMW is damn near perfect. However, I love bold proclamations nonetheless.

I'm all for Yoshi's island. The arguments about how the game sucks because of baby Mario crying is pretty lame considering it was probably a design choice to make the player grab that baby asap. Sure it was irritating but not enough of a reason to make you hate the game, more like a cherry on the sour ice cream top.

One of my top ten all-time games. Every level is full of unique, interesting puzzles. None of the gameplay elements get overused. The aiming system leaves something to be desired, but considering this is a game from 1995, that's perfectly fine.

I think Yoshi's Island is an ok game. I am not against it nor am I for it. Both camps are insane.

Against, because fuck Baby Mario. I don't care if it only happens if you're doing badly, it's still annoying as hell.

Also, this is without a doubt the worst tragedy of this site. Red Dead Redemption should've won GotY over ME2. Loved both games, but come ON.

Loved the game on the SNES, but portable... This game is garbage. I really never understood the outright vigor of hatred this title seemed to generate. I mean it's a game that starts out for a younger audience but then gets really dark, really fast. Next thing you know, you're at the final stage, shooting an egg bazooka in a style only seen with the Super Scope games.

I don't ACTUALLY care. But it seems alright to me. Slightly more for than against. :P

I played both SMW and Yoshi's Island around the same time when I was a kid and I could not fucking agree more. Fuck, I never could even finish Yoshi's Island and I still hold it in a higher regard.

Yoshi's Island is the worst Super Mario World game in existance. It's still a great game though, I love it
