My brother bought me SMB on Steam a few days ago. I've played through a bit into the second level so far, using a PS3 controller that is masquerading as a 360 controller. I appear to have already permanently damaged the cross button such that it tends to get stuck if pressed down at any kind of angle. Somebody pointed out to me that you can run with the right trigger instead of square, which probably would have prevented this problem...but its a bit late now...
Do people who played it on the PS3 have this problem? Has anybody else broken a controller? Am I justified in being kind of pissed off?

" I broke my left stick, got fed up with the Factory. Fuck that game,Waste of 10 bucks. "Truly Kaos, you are the friendliest and most sympathetic user on GB :)
It is not out on psn, nor will it ever be according to team meat.
But i have not broken my controller. I am playing on PC so the only games my gamepad gets used for is platformers like this, or dual joystick shooters. My fingers hurt after playing for awhile though, and that never happens when i play games.
Nope. I broke the left bumper on my controller. I've been stuck in the middle of Chapter 5 for a month now.

I broke a seitek gamepad trigger after playing grid for a long while...

" You broke the X button just pushing on it normally? That's pretty whack. "
Well, when you have to hold down square and quickly tap cross it can get pretty intense.
The A button on my Xbox controller feels less responsive. Although that might just be me making excuses to myself about why I keep dying at certain parts.
" I broke my left stick, got fed up with the Factory. Fuck that game,Waste of 10 bucks. "normal world?
because that's nothing compared to the dark world.

"I can sympathize, I was just playing it and the game was significantly more difficult to control than when I started playing. I guess I'm going to have to shell out for a wired 360 controller at some point.
Christ, its like Mario Party all over again. Next we are going to need Super Meat Boy gloves.
" normal world? because that's nothing compared to the dark world. "...well now that you have told me about dark world, I can safely say I will not touch this game again.
My stupid 360 controller's left stick is too lose now and it moves on it's own. This game is stupid and dumb as Bush, I was seriously debating if I should email Steam and tell them I want to return this crap.

especially those fucking warp-zones. Having to do them all over again because you messed up on the last level is no fun
" I think I might've damaged my fingers. My hands haven't cramped so badly since I played Street Fighter II for two days straight when I was 5. Still lovin' it. "Clearly you don't play guitar.
On an unrelated note, I just read the patch notes and Tofu Boy was added yesterday. Team Meat is officially awesome, even if they did break our controllers.
I was actually worried about getting enraged by this game, but I tried the demo on my friend's 360 and immediately drove home and bought the pc version (last night around midnight). I'm up to the factory/chapter 3 and its been, well ... fucking delightful. There's already been quite a few "AH HA!" moments where suddenly the level makes sense and I realize I'd been going at it all wrong. I don't find myself frustrated at all - the game seems perfectly fair. My myriad deaths actually make me laugh out loud sometimes, just because of my own stupidity and/or lack of proper motor function. And I am really enjoying looking at each new level and thinking, "WTF? How the hell.." but it can be done, and it's fun as shit.
On topic, I somehow managed to wear out the left joystick in my first 360 controller within about three weeks. When I went to return it I was served by the same sales guy who'd sold me the system; his face was just this continual hilarious slideshow of confusion/horror/awe
My 360 controller's stick is always going slightly to the left. But I use keyboard for Super Meat Boy anyway
