New Features:

Full Upgrade Bonus: By fully upgrading the (non-weapon) stats of a unit, that unit obtains an item (equippable items are not available in this game). One notable exception is the V2 Gundam, which instead transforms into the V2 Assault Buster Gundam.

Changes from Super Robot Wars 2

Gameplay Mechanics: Super Robot Wars 2G inherits many of its gameplay mechanics from SRW4, such as pilot/robot stats, unit upgrading, the ability to manually choose how to deal with an enemy attack, etc.

Missions: Many new missions are added due to the inclusion of Victory Gundam and G Gundam, and the antagonists of V Gundam sometimes show up in missions that were included in the original SRW2. Also, path splits are implemented, allowing you to choose what path your team will take based on your actions on the battlefield.

Units: In the original Super Robot Wars 2, many units would join your force, yet leave only a few missions later. 2G changes that, as you are allowed to keep just about every character that you obtain. Also, characters Tetsuya Tsurugi (Character) and Ryuune Zoldark (Character) are playable, unlike the original game.
