While trying to improve my move execution & timing, e.g. still having troubles to FADC into anything, I read a lot of advice on the web and watched many tutorial videos. I realized that seeing the hands/inputs was way more helpful than written how-to's and asking another player for tips helped me the most. This made me think about playing in the arcade (which sadly I can't because I live in Germany) and raised a question: Does anyone of you still play in the arcade? Meet new players? Ask for advice? I mean in addition to or instead of the console.

Playing in the arcade?
Arcades are pretty rare things these days, mate. If anyone happens to know if there's a cabinet in Scotland, let me know. I'd love to play some old school stylee.
" @jadeskye: There is no arcade version of SSF4. There may be a cabinet with an xbox/ps3 inside and SSF4 running though. I believe there are 2 SF4 cabinets in London one at "Funland" in Westminster and another in the "Leisure casino centre" in Camden. "I played on a cab like that. It was like a dollar for 7 minutes of play or $2 for 15 minutes. My friend and I burned it up and then realized we were paying to do something we do for free. It was still a blast though and it would have been great if others would have been there to play.
the SSFIV cabinets aren't out yet, so I imagine even if people have arcades around them, there's no way they're playing SSFIV.

Edit: Okay, there's actually one in Manchester, so its about 100 miles closer or so.
" @Killroycantkill: Sweet, my nearest one is about 326 miles away (by google maps directions). I could be there by next week if I start walking now... "Hmm there's one in Manchester. Didn't realise, thought they were only in London. That's only 1hr 30 mins away from me. Yay!
I live in Southern California, have some interest in Street Fighter, NEVER GONE TO ARCADE INFINITY!
Though I think that scene died out since Super has yet to have an arcade release.
Also I took the same class with some girl who knew Marn. She said, "Oh, I met a friend from grade school recently. His name is Marn, apparently he makes money playing games."
I freaked out a little bit...
I'd thought about organising some kind of UK meet up for the GB crew, but I don't know how worthwhile it'd be/if people would be that bothered. Manchester would be a reasonable half-way point, but then... all in the name of hitting an SF4 arcade?
I'm pretty much on vacation until SSF4 Arcade comes out. All the places around here that have SF4 Arcade have swapped out the boards for Xbox's and hold freeplay sessions but it's not the same. I can get that experience at any given session with more setups. I want the real deal :(
" @mubress: Yeah, Manchester is a lot closer to Glasgow than London. Still a good... 4 hours away? Go for it, we're all pretty close lol.
@GetEveryone:@mubress: If you're serious about local play go to neoempire. Leading EU fighting game site, I checked it out and found out a load of dudes meet up litelly 10 minutes away from my place to play.
Ya we still have sf4 arcade machines. Theres one place that has like a row of sit down cabnits back to backs. And there are like 8 cabnits.
Holy shit! I have a local scene. Esc - games in Glasgow do weekly casuals every Thursday night (£2 entry, surplus £1 for rental of SE/TE - cheap as chips) and Ranbats every second Sunday.
This. Is. Awesome.
Thanks for the heads-up, Pessh.
