Show you Fightsticks
Glad to see the thread is still pumping out nice looking sticks. I'm thinking of getting a TE. If I do I'll be modding it and posting it here for sure.
Does anyone know how to get oil based paint off of laminated art? I painted my basement recently and some of the paint for the ceiling got on it, so far a damp cloth doesn't do the trick lol.
" Does anyone know how to get oil based paint off of laminated art? I painted my basement recently and some of the paint for the ceiling got on it, so far a damp cloth doesn't do the trick lol. "I dunno. Some white spirit? It might strip ruin the art but if it's laminated it should be ok.
So I just ordered a 360 TE Round 2 stick. Is there a guide somewhere with general tips on customizing? What kind of paper to use, how to find high res art, templates, etc. Any help would be great. (Hopefully this is the right thread for a question like this)
That's purdy.
Here is my SE with the Asian Tournament Edition-style template with a fake bezel! Stock stick and Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons.
I bought a PS3 fight stick last summer, really nice stick for the $40 I paid.
A couple of weeks ago I grabbed two 360 fight sticks from Walmart for $30 each. I decided to mod one of these with Sanwa parts, wish I had done it to the PS3 stick when I was playing heavier, so much better.
Pretty standard mod, JLF stick, SWF buttons. Threw on a mesh ball top and a dust cover with arrows on it from Lizard Lick. I kept the buttons the same colour as the stick came stock, but I am considering ordering some to match with the 360 layout for the hell of it, plus it would give me the extras to throw in my PS3 stick.
I would post a picture of my stick but it would be pretty underwhelming. Maybe once I get those buttons and do a custom art inlay, I need to recruit the help of my buddy who is pretty good with Photoshop and happens to work at a printing company first though.
Now if I was any good at the game, I spent all this money on upgrading parts, time to practice I guess.
Kind of as an update to this blog post I made, I finally finished making my arcade stick mostly from scratch. I bought Plexiglas case parts at Art's Hobbies and I bought a wired Xbox 360 controller in order to disassemble it, extract its PCB (printed circuit board) and solder the board to arcade controller pushbuttons and the joystick. The sides are all made of blue mirror Plexiglas with the bottom and the top being clear Plexiglas. The artwork is easily changeable, so I kind of consider it temporary. Pics:
favorite giantbomb thread. This always makes me wanna go home and play some street fighter or marvel vs. capcom.
Let's see..." @FluxWaveZ: Wow man, awesome stick. How much did the whole thing run you? "
Art's Hobbies: Plexiglas case parts + artwork print + Plexiglas cleaning stuff = $150
LizardLick: Sanwa JLF + Seimitsu pushbuttons + wires + 2 barrier strips + cable ties = $90
Screwing up official wired Xbox 360 controller PCB = $35
GameStop branded Xbox 360 controller = $33
Total (without tools) = approximately $308
Weller soldering iron = $30
Screwdriver kit = $15
Total w/ tools = approximately $353
Much more than I would have wanted to pay, of course, but it was worth it in the end. I could have saved money by not ordering a bunch of mirror parts for the Plexiglas case, using spare pushbuttons that I removed from my SE Fightstick and not messing up the circuit board of my first controller, but I'm happy with how it came out.
Truly, I am the last of the big spenders. Normally play on a fight pad, and tend to prefer the idea of a stick more so than actually using one. Quite liking this one so far though. The stick itself is nice and clicky, the buttons are responsive, and most importantly it cost less than £4.00. Ugly as sin of course but nevermind.
Just your typical TE stick on the outside, but what I really wanted to show off are the guts of it. Its a dual-mod fightstick using a Multi-Console Cthulu board.
I'm not quite sure what I want to do with my fightstick next. Possibly custom art (preferably something Giantbomb/Persona related LOL) or LEDs for the buttons. :D
E-mailed Art's Hobbies for a quote and the shipping was going to cripple me, so its lay exactly like that since I posted. As soon as I get some actual liquidity, I'm going to send him the .PSD and get it on. Need about 100 bucks for the full-faceplate plexi and the print, though. Being a poor student, I just don't have the cash atm.
I'm new to the community. Just wanted to throw my fightstick into the bunch.
Dual modded Xbox/ps3
The design is by me
and the plexi was bought from art's hobbies GET THE LASER ETCHING!
I bought SFIV when it came out and played it for a week or two, but got bored because it was way to hard to use the Xbox controller. Now I'm listening to a bunch of old Bombcasts and hearing them talk about fightsticks and all that's making me excited to play it again. So, my question is: what are your recommandations for what stick to buy? Knowing nothing about fightsticks I don't really know what it is I'm supposed to be looking for.
Thanks!
" @Lilyvalley: Get a Madcatz SE street fighter IV Fightstick and look up some modding tutorials online. Its not too hard to mod it, you can get the parts from lizardlick[dot]com. Projected cost for everything isn't cheap though, your looking at about 100$ for the fightstick and parts. "I started with an SE then dual modded for xbox/ps3 and upgraded to a TE dual modded right before SSF4.
For you I say SE to see if it holds you interest long enough to say "I'm hooked" 30-50 bucks
I love fighters when I was younger but decide when the King of all fighting games returned I was going to get a stick. I haven't looked back. With Marvel vs Capcom 3 coming out I'm kinda glad I have a TE. I gave my cousin my SE and his combos increased by 40%. Piano for the win.
Wait, no there's the stick. Looks really nice, actually.
Used my Street Fighter Stick for Super Meat boy, and this followed
Since I seen a few other Cammy sticks floating around here I thought I would add mine.
Mods: Art (duh), 1/16" clear plexi cover, carbon ball top, clear Seimitsu buttons, 8 way octagonal gate, LS-33 spring, PS360 PCB.
It looks really clean, but stylish as hell. I like.
If those don't give you enough reasons to log some hours on that fightstick then I don't know what could.
Here is the template for my PS3 stick. The mods are going to be identical to the ones I made for the Xbox360 Cammy stick I posted earlier, with exception to the PS360 board. This stick is new so i'm going to wait for the warranty to wear out before I dual mod it. All the parts and art are ordered, so I should have it done just in time for MvC3 :D
