Thinking of Buying a Stick.
I bought one last week. It certainly is a quality piece of hardware, I can see why people love it. I, personally find it a total bitch to get used to, if you've been using a fightpad for a full year. I can NOT pull off double quarter circles, and it's just frustrating me. I might get my money back and buy a wireless mouse and keyboard for my PC with the cash instead, or I might keep it around for Mortal Kombat, I'm not sure yet.
Reminds me of that time where some arcade stick scammer almost stole my money and ran away with a lot of other peoples cash and only shipping 3 or 4 actual sticks: Electric-Trouble.
Being the cynical person I am, I immediately reported him to Paypal when there was but a small hint of trouble, but those who were more forgiving and trusting got their money stolen and haven't gotten it back. That was a year ago.
" @TooWalrus: Try riding the gate, got mine thursday and having similar problems, it gets easier.Yeah, I mean, I can do it sometimes against the computer, but not on command against human opponents. I'm just not seeing any advantages over my fightpad. Maybe I will sell it (for now) and buy whatever awesome model they put out along side MvC3.
@CL60: Cancel and order from elsewhere dude "

I don't know anywhere else in Canada to get it, other then Amazon.ca and screw that because it is 169.99 at amazon.ca. Everywhere else is American and the price will probably be more then that for me.
Trust me, I didn't try it once, say 'fuck this' and give up. I've thought long and hard about it.
" @Pessh said:I think it might be cheaper, but takes longer, to buy a stick from Amazon.com instead of .ca. Since there's more sales on the .com site. But iduno, I have almost no experience shopping online and looking for "hidden fees"." @CL60: That blows. Ordered mine Tuesday and it should be arriving tomorrow. "Did you buy it on Amazon? Because I would have, but it is $169.99 on amazon (This is Canada) "
" @CL60 said:I just tried to order from amazon.com and it said they can't ship to Canada." @Pessh said:I think it might be cheaper, but takes longer, to buy a stick from Amazon.com instead of .ca. " @CL60: Hmm that really sucks, I guess us Canadian's got the short stick when it comes to buying a TE stick eh? oh well, has your stick shipped yet? "Nope. Still says "Not yet shipped" So I'm probably going to cancel it and find somewhere else. Because this is just ridiculous.
It appears that way, even though their site said, and still says:" @CL60 said:
" Argh, I was just about to cancel my order and order from somewhere else and before doing so checked the tracking number, and it just shipped today. It took them long enough. "From what it sounds like, they had to wait to get it in stock before sending you one. :/ "
"Availability: Ships within 24 hours"
" I have a question. Those 2 buttons that act as all 3 punch buttons and all 3 kick buttons. Should I use them, or set them to unassigned? "Unless you want to press all three punch/kick buttons for ultras, I would recommend keep it intact.
" Oh man, this is hard. I have a hard time doing ultras now. And SRKs and fireballs. "It comes back pretty fast, I had trouble at first too. By the way, using the buttons for all 3 kicks/punches is kinda frowned upon and pointless as hitting all 3 at the same time is really easy with a stick.
Alright. I play Dhalsim, and after an hour in training, I decided to hit up the online. And I kept jumping in at people and getting anti-aired whenever i tried to yoga fire :( And if I tried to teleport most of the time I would do a jab." @CL60 said:

" @Skytylz said:I can't give any advise on SF really, I kinda suck. I just kinda mashed buttons when I got my stick until I started getting the motions right and he was doing the moves I wanted.Alright. " I still can't understand buying a hundred dollar stick for (most people for) one game. "It makes a HUGE difference. After playing with a stick you'll start to dedicate more time to playing. Also the stick is great for some XBLA/PSN games. I have a FightStick SE that I modded with high quality parts and new art. Since getting the stick I've completely rekindled my interest in fighting games and I've been playing more shmups. You might only buy it for one game, but you'll probably get way more play out of that game to make it worth it. If you use if for other stuff and it enhances the play on those games, then the cost is easily justified.
Man oh man, the more I read about people getting a stick the more I want to buy one. Just don't know if I will be committed enough to justify the purchase, I may purchase the SE just to get my feet wet. Then at a later date upgrade the parts if I stick (lol pun) with it.
