It felt like this game got a ton of exposure on the site but looking at the number of threads on its game specific forum, it doesn't seem to have caught on with the community.

These days I am very hesitant on getting into the games the staff get hyped about 'cause they never quite hit me the same way except for a notable few so I was very cautious going into Superhot. I went in having avoided as much videos as possible, including the QL.

Anyway, I just beat Superhot and actually it's a pretty cool tight package. The first few levels make the game seem really gimmicky but it eventually won me over with some of the ill shit you'll bound to pull off. I haven't tried the challenges or the endless mode that unlocks when you finish the campaign so my thoughts are really only about that portion of the game.

Ended up liking the story aspect the most, which was just enough and right up my alley. It's annoying how they end the game with the "spread the word, tell your friends, it's up to you" stuff. We get it, you want to sell more copies but come on. It bothers me even more 'cause this thing is freaking expensive. It's the kinda "subscribe and like" mentality that's simply inappropriate in a paid product.

The gameplay is fun but I still think it's a kind of a gimmick that's just enough substance with a whole a lot of style and they didn't prove to me otherwise with the amount of levels included.

The biggest selling point is the visual presentation. The white and red minimal look is very cool but it's the Matrix style command prompt wrapping around it that's the real deal. Really dope.

Probably give it a 4/5 overall.

What are your thoughts on Superhot if you've played it. If you haven't, why haven't you, when will you, or why won't you?

I played it after I got it on sale on the last steam summer sale. Only bought it because I had heard the crew praise it before. It's a really fun game and I got my money's worth. Not sure if I would have felt differently if it weren't on sale.

I'll get it if I ever catch it on sale when I don't have a huge backlog to play.

It looks very cool, but I've heard how short it is. And I like shorter games, but $25 for 2-3 hour game is not worth it to me.

No its one of those games like RE7 where I really want to play it but willing to wait (years if necessary) to play them in VR.

I own Superhot and Superhot VR for the Oculus. They are both kind of incredible for very different reasons.

Yeah I played it and it was amazing. I actually thought the whole 'tell your friends' bit was hilarious, especially given how the story in that game ends up going. I mean yeah, it's cheesy and sounds shilly but it's not out of place at all. Overall, I'd say it's a game with an amazing core mechanic wrapped up in a whole bunch of style. It's also a lot more challenging than I thought it would be, especially on Endless.

This was definitely the most memorable bit. The action is fun--treads that nice balance between difficulty and clear, interpretable logic--but the storytelling outside the gameplay chapters was surprisingly interesting.

I was hooked on the demo / proof of concept they had up and kicked into help crowdfund the game. I played and very much enjoyed SuperHot a lot. I really want to play it in VR someday. I found SuperHot to have the right balance of fun, story, and length for what it was presenting and how quickly it was to jump in and out of the game.

I played it through and loved it but had no interest in going back to endless mode. As its really more a puzzle game I wouldn't mind if they added more crafted puzzles but otherwise I got what I wanted and didn't feel like it was overpriced.

Sure did! Possibly my favourite of the Doom and Titanfall 2 trio, thanks to it's "gimmick". It was easily THE MOST INNOVATIVE SHOOTER I'VE PLAYED IN YEARS!

Nah, i'm stingy and it seems too expensive for what it is. I would've probably got it on a Steam sale if my computer wasnt on the verge of death.

It's on the list of games to play when I finally justify buying a new PC.

No. I always thought it looked really cool, and all the GotY discussions refreshed my interest in it, but I still haven't gotten around to playing it. Whatever, I guess. I could say that about most games. I would like to play this on VR if/when I ever get a headset.

There's a part in VR where you are standing on the edge of a building. To continue you have to shoot yourself or walk forward IRL to walk off the building (the headset tracking knows your position). It's pretty awesome. It has story stuff like the regular game, if you can call it story lol.

I played it after hearing about it on the podcast, and while I agree that the game is on the expensive side, I loved the puzzle aspect of the gameplay. The story was definitely entertaining, and I thought the game was just as long as it needed to be.

In short, SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER HOT...ahem. Sorry, don't know what happened there. It's a lot of fun and I'm glad I played it.

I did play it and really liked it, but I wasn't really into the unlimited mode or whatever it was called. It seemed interesting, but I didn't really want to engage with it that badly. Also, I never thought seeing your carnage back at full speed looked that awesome. Always seemed a bit off and anti-climatic to how it felt while doing it.

I played it last month and thought it was amazing. The main story could have been longer for sure, but I didn't do any of the extra stuff yet.

There's an official superhot card game on kickstarter right now that looks really neat. It's a physical card game not an online thing.

Played it and really, really did not like it. It's $35 CAD, my Steam playtime is less than 2 hours, and a good chunk of that was spent not actually playing the game. You see, Super Hot thinks it's very cute to pull you out of the actual level forcibly every third stage to set up and deliver a narrative which thinks it's much more clever than it actually is, and then it has the audacity to end by all but begging you to run to Twitter and advertise.

It feels like they spent an insane amount of time building a cheeky story, and then nearly forgot that they had to put actual game in their game.
