    Endless Potential 0

There's a moment during Superhot's (stylized as SUPERHOT) end game credits in which someone types to you "the most innovative shooter of all time." It's meant to be a self-aware jab in a game that already basks in its own meta-ness, but the Polish team behind one of the most inventive gameplay hooks in years probably believes it. An ASCII-based interface is your first view into the stark and minimalist world of SUPERHOT. An anonymous user name suggests to you a hot new title that has cool gam...

Super slick, super cool and later on super challenging... Now if only the game told me what it was called... 0

I’m all for innovation when it comes to blending genres to create something new and noteworthy, and SuperHot’s early prototype certainly had me intrigued when I first saw it. Never mind the strange, unseen narrator who references the game’s title ad nauseum or the shattering of red people like panes of glass, it was the nature of having a partial control of time while dodging bullets and dispensing your own in a slick, effortlessly stylish manner that sold me. The final product...

    SUPERHOT, but also KINDASHORT 0

Hello Random Person On The Internet I Shall Call Friend. You should check this game out, it is the most innovative shooter I have played in years....Okay, now that I got that out of the way, let's get real here.Getting the elephant in the room out of the way here: Yes, SUPERHOT is a short game. I completed the campaign mode in about 2 hours. For a game that is regularly $25 (I picked it up when it was on sale for $20), I can see that being a hard sale. If you are the type who wants to get some p...

Mind is software, bodies are disposable 0

Although it's often used this way, the phrase "there's nothing else like it" isn't an inherently positive thing. Mentioning something as unique does not specifically tell anyone if that thing is any good, however, when I say that there's really not a whole else like Superhot, I want to make sure that I add that as well being different, that the game is pretty great. Starting from a weird browser-based prototype into a Kickstarter project into a full-fledged release, Superhot has finally seen the...

Super cool, but crazy short 0

Superhot first saw the light of day as part of a game jam in 2013 and the subsequent browser game became an instant hit. The short fps had a simple hook. “Time only moves when you move.” The gameplay was matched with a distinctive minimalist style and just the hint of a larger overarching narrative. The prototype game paved the way for a Kickstarter and in 2016 Superhot Team published a full-fledged PC release of Superhot. The new version thrills with updated graphics and gameplay, bu...

Short game that packs a slow motion punch 0

Starting up Superhot, developed by Superhot Team, on PC, I knew it was going to be something special. I knew this because game industry websites and podcasts had been talking about it for the entirety of 2016. I added it to the Cache in late 2016 after seeing it in a number of game of the year discussions and it moved up the list recently when I needed a shorter time commitment game. I was not disappointed with what I found. The playthrough of Superhot took me around two hours, so it is going to ...
