    Overview

Susanna Patrya Haltmann, Susie for short, is a character in the Kirby franchise who made her debut in Kirby: Planet Robobot as the secondary antagonist, being the stakeholder of the Haltmann Works Company's "Mechanizing Occupation Project" on Planet Popstar. She is voiced by Makiko Ohmoto, who also voices Kirby and Queen Sectonia. Notably, Makiko Ohmoto voices her singing the first verse of "The Noble Haltmann" and interacting with Sectonia in a mini-drama during the Kirby series' 25th Anniversary Concert.

    History

Susie is the daughter of Max Proffit Haltmann. Many years prior to the events of Kirby: Planet Robobot, Haltmann was a loving father towards her, until the day he uncovered the blueprints for a powerful ancient wish-granting Mother Computer, "Star Dream." After rebuilding it, Haltmann tried to test it's abilities through various tests, but on one of these tests, the young Susie was warped to Another Dimension, separating her from her father for many years. Unware that his daughter had been transported to Another Dimension, Haltmann believed that his daughter died in the experiment, and so decided to push forward in trying to unlock the powers of Star Dream in hopes of granting a wish that may bring his daughter back.

While stranded in Another Dimension, Susie managed to collect data from Sphere Doomers, that would later be used to create the Holo-Doomers fought in Resolution Road. Though it is unknown how, Susie was able to return to her home dimension on her own after many years, only to find that her father had completely forgotten about her. In actuality, in the many years Susie was gone, Haltmann, in his attempts to tap into Star Dream's power, used a controller that interfered with his mind, gradually losing his heart and memories in the process, so by the time Susie returned, he wasn't able to recognize her.

Still though, after all she's been through to reunite with him, Susie wasn't just going give up on her father, so she took on the role of his secretary in order to stay close to him, with the hope of being able to make him come to his senses somehow. In the meantime, she carried out the duties assigned to her, such as mechanizing planets and it's inhabitants and exterminating all those who oppose the company.

It is when the Haltmann Works Co. invaded the Planet Popstar where the events of Kirby: Planet Robobot begin. In the short time the planet was mechanized, Susie has already managed to mechanize, collect data, and clone, the inhabitants of Popstar to add to the company's ever growing forces, most notably Meta Knight, who single-handedly took on their armies and managed to put up a fight before being defeated. Impressed by his strength and confidence, Susie gave him a complete remodel into a cyborg soldier and "hired" him as a company security guard. But although the planet and it's inhabitants had successfully been mechanized, there was one exception, Kirby. Upon their first encounter, Susie was surprised that a native had managed make it that far, but brushed him aside as just another obstacle to be exterminated, and fought him in her "Business Suit," but to her shock, the Pink Puffball was able to defeat her. Afterwards, Kirby continued to progress and made quick work of the enemies Susie made to stand in his way, including Mecha Knight. Susie could not understand Kirby's overwhelming power, believing it impossible that this pink stubby native could possibly best several creations of the Mother Computer, which she previously believed to be perfect. In the final area, after witnessing Kirby reduce Mecha Knight+, a further upgraded version of Mecha Knight, to scrap, Susie would try to defeat Kirby herself once again, only to be interrupted by Haltmann and be forced to step down. Tired of being pushed around by a father that doesn't seem to care or remember her, after Kirby defeats Haltmann and Haltmann resorts to activating Star Dream, Susie takes it as an opportunity to betray him, stealing the helmet used to control the machine, hoping that not only would she be able to make a fortune by selling it off to another company, but also that she might "teach the old man a lesson." This proves to be a fatal mistake, as this leads to an error in the machine, causing Star Dream to possess Haltmann's body and become self-aware. Declaring that all organic life is flawed and must be eradicated, Star Dream flies into spaces. Seeing this, Susie forms a truce with Kirby in order to stop the threat, and gives him the Invader Armor, allowing Kirby to transform it into the Robobot Armor, just in time for Meta Knight (having been recently freed from mechanization after being defeated by Kirby as Mecha Knight+) to fly in on his Halberd, which Kirby copies using the armor, in order to fight Star Dream. Susie is only able to put her faith in Kirby to save the day, and of course, he does. After all of this, Popstar is restored to it's non-mechanized state, Haltmann Works Co. is destroyed, and Susie decides to leave the planet alone out of respect... for the time being.

In Kirby: Star Allies' Susie returns as a Dream Friend, having ambitions of reviving Haltmann Works Co. after the events of Planet Robobot.
