Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment is an action RPG by Bandai Namco Games for the PlayStation Vita. Originally released in Japan on April 24, 2014, it was released in America on August 19th 2014, with Europe the following day.

A major patch was released on September 23 in America which increased the level cap and added new quests and enhancements to the overall game.

An alternate canon version of Sword Art Online in which you take control of Kirito, a player who, along with 10,000 others, got trapped in the Virtual Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (VRMMORPG). The only way to exit the game is to clear the 100 floors of the giant floating castle named Aincrad, invented and designed by Dr.Kayaba, Akihiko.

You can meet, party with, and partially romance various characters from the original canon and new characters created especially for the game. Dates you take characters on can end in pillow-talk.

The game is separated into two parts including a floor clearing chapter telling the original story of the previously released Infinity Moment game as well as a new region for the Vita release called the Hollow Area which includes mutliplayer aspects and new story and a new character to interact with.

The combat system is similar to an ARPG in which you can attack directly, give commands to party members who are from the show (Such as the "switch" command to draw aggro to the character that switches in) and special/linked attacks.
