So... I had my own personal Phoenix Down/Usual Suspects moment listening to the bombcast today when Jeff pronounced "MIles Prower" in such a way that... I realized the name is a pun.
It's been a pun all these years.
You guys. YOU GUYS.

I still don't get it.....
I'm not sure either..."Miles Per Hour"? Is that it?
Yes.

@Galiant:Yeah
@SpikeSpiegel: I don't get it either
Down as in down feathers. Jeff never realized that it stood for the feather of a phoenix, and when Brad told him it blew his mind. good bombcast moment.
I always thought Miles Prower and Phoenix Down were pretty obvious to the point that I always thought that I didn't get it and everyone else did.
Whaaaat? Ugh. Uuuuugh. I get a bad taste in my mouth just from thinking about the logic behind that pun.
Miles Prower....Miles Perower.....Miles Per Hour MILES PER HOUR!! OH MY GOD! I've been playing Sonic games since I was 2, and it's taken 17 years for me to figure that out. ...Wow, that's sad.
Oh wow, I didn't even notice that either. However, until now I never knew Tails last name. Miles P(er)ower is really funny.
Still don't get the Phoenix Down thing. Down = Feather? Something I'm missing? Down doesn't mean feather where I come from.
So apparently down feather is a thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Down_feather I'm no bird expert so never heard the term. Surprised it seems to be common knowledge to so many.
Down pillows are pretty common.Still don't get the Phoenix Down thing. Down = Feather? Something I'm missing? Down doesn't mean feather where I come from.

In America? I've never heard of a down pillow.
Yeah. Maybe other places too. I don't know where you're from.@august said:

OHHHHHHHHHHH
Reworp Selim?
Selim?
Selim Bradley?
PRIDE?
TAILS IS SECRETLY PRIDE!?
@CaLe: I have, and I'm in the US. In the army all we had were down pillows. I hate them, personally, cus the tail end of the feather sometimes poked thru. Its annoying.
Anyway, ya, another word for feather is down.
Phoenix down resurrects you in final fantasy.
That which does this is the feathers of a phoenix- basically.
Not much more to it.
It just blew Jeff's mind 'cus he never thought about it before.
It's a horrible pun, but I do always enjoy when people realize it, even after having said it for years without knowing it.
That always makes me smile.
