    Overview

Tales of Phantasia for the PlayStation is a remake of the original Super Famicom title that was published on December 23, 1998 by Namco. The game was developed by Wolf Team and featured a redone presentation, an updated battle system, and re-recorded dialogue. Namco later ported the PlayStation remake to the PlayStation Portable in 2006 under the title Tales of Phantasia Full Voice Edition, which was the first time the game had been completely voiced. In 2010 another updated version of the PSP release was included with Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X as a bonus.

None of the different releases of Tales of Phantasia were every published outside of Japan but several unofficial translations patches have been created for the original PlayStation version. Absolute Zero released a complete English patch in 2007 and Phantasian Productions spent over a decade creating their own translation until the patch was finally released in 2012.
