A review for the old-school Ninja Turtles fan. 4

Growing up, I was a huge fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I remember watching the cartoon on TV, playing the NES games, arcade games, and every now and then I tend to play through the SNES version of Turtles in Time. When I heard that they were bringing one of my favorite games of all time to Xbox Live Arcade, you could imagine how pumped I was to finally play this game online. Now that the game is finally out, I can honestly say that the game retains enough of what I loved about the Nin...

You'll have more fun remembering the game than playing it 5

It's been a while since the arcade release of Turtles in Time. It's gone down in history as one of the greatest arcade games of all time and for good reason. It was a great beat em' up that let 4 people play on the same machine at one time. It truly was an experience to behold. But games have progressed a lot since then and old school beat em' ups just don't hold up as well anymore and this remake of Turtles in Time is no exception.  In Turtles you get very few play modes. There is Story mode th...

TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled Review 2

The fact that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are as old as I am is unbelievable. The fact that the brand is still popular and relevant is even more remarkable. For those that have been around from the beginning, Ubisoft has released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled. It’s a remake to the Arcade/SNES classic, and I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been waiting for this game since its announcement. However, I feel like this review needs to be written from two different viewp...

A Shell of Its Former Self 0

Re-Shelled's source material is left better as a memory that you never revisit in anything other than in the confines of your own thoughts.  If you come from the arcade then you will get just that but with far less memorable graphics and an utter realization that this game that was once a classic, no longer holds a torch to today's games in terms of relevancy or even fun factor.  Personally, I only enjoyed the game on the SNES with a bunch of my friends when I was younger.  It was an awesome gam...

    GOTY 2009 0

As a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for well over 20 years, I've seen the series hit some ups and downs, even in video games. However, I had no reason to feel that I had anything to worry about when I found there was going to be a remake of the arcade classic Turtles in Time. And as it turns out, I had every reason to anticipate such a game.Maybe I'm just a simple person who enjoys simple pleasures, but beat-'em-ups are one of my favorite genres and there are very few that I actually ca...

This game should have remained in the past. 0

There was a lot of excitement leading up the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled. The original “Un-Shelled” edition was a big hit in the arcades back in ‘91, and later on for the SNES in ‘92. For a long time I shared this excitement, but a few levels into this remake I came to the realisation that this was purely because I hadn’t played the original in so long. Games have come a long way since the early 1990s and Turtles in Time is the perfect example of this if t...

It's only for the fans 0

ahhhhh, Turtles in Time, I remember playing this in the arcade with my older Brother like it was just yesterday. I was  Michelangelo and my brother was Raphael, the two of us were kicking some shell, and My brother died, and I defeated the Shredder on my own. Good times, good times. Now that Turtles is time is on the X-Box live arcade, and you think it a dream made in heaven. The classic Beat'em up on X-Box live with new graphic's and online play, what could go wrong? Well, adding nothing else, ...

My biggest beef with the game... 0

Alright well here we go, first off I want to say that I played and loved the original and use to play it all the time with my brother when I was a kid, so I would think that I know a lot about this game... Yes they change up the levels... what no Technodrome? WTF! Cement Man? what the hell is this Mega Man... at least name him Mud Man or something cause I was in prehistoric times and there was no cement around when dinosaurs where around!!! But my biggest problem with that game is the SCORING S...

Favours nostalgia over offering players something new. 0

Attention: old-school turtles fans! Most of you will remember Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (IV): Turtles in Time. An iconic side-scrolling beat ‘em up which hit the arcades in 1991 and the SNES later in 1992. If you’ve missed the chance to play it since, rejoice, as you’ve now got a chance to in TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, available over Playstation Network (and Xbox Live Arcade). It’s a remake, therefore is in a nut-shell, the same game with flashier graphics. You’ll complete the same lev...

    Sometimes the Old-School Should Stay Old-School 0

Note - I bought this at a discounted price on the Playstation Store (half its original price) and plus this game came out about a few months ago too. The four player beat-em-up is as old-school as it gets when it comes to video games. They are simple to play, but hard as nails to the point you keep spending your quarters to continue. That was the case with Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat-em-up games. They were timeless arcade classics at the same time being true to the source ma...

    TMNT TIT Re-Shelled 0

Video Review... Turtles In Time Re-Shelled, released in 2009 from ubisoft, is a remake of the arcade version of turtles in time. Overall the game is a fun beat em up featuring the lovable turtle characters, and it is a decent rehash.TIT uses the typical beat em up formula which features varied enemies and stages, with a boss fight at the end of each stage. The game features 4 difficulty levels in which you are sure to find the right one for your abilities. The game also features an adde...

Ok, but doesn't have the magic of the original 0

Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is a pretty basic 3D re-imagining of the original SNES one, and while it didn't translate perfectly you'll get some enjoyment out of running through it for the low price tag.Combat can be confusing at times as your player will shift great distances on the screen when striking and you can often lose track of which turtle you are. It's sometimes difficult to hit in the direction you want, an optional right stick directional striking control would have been nice. The Bosse...

As a child of the 80's Turtles have special place in my heart. This is franchise that has more or less always been handled pretty well. Even the remake series was good. Worst treatment have been maybe the movie's. The four green shelled ninjas that borrow names from historical Italian masters are as eager after pizza as they were back in the 80's. This is actually a remake of a old SNES game Turtles in Time. Which I must admit that I didn't know that this. Or that this was exactly the remake o...

Maybe im just a turtle fanboy. 0

Turtles in Time Re-Shelled seems to be getting a lot of negative reviews. I for one enjoyed the game a lot. The SNES version was one of my favorite games growing up. TIT is missing two levels that were in the SNES version. The game will only take 30-45 minutes to complete, but the online co-op and survival mode should add some game play. Most of the game is on the easy side, but some of the boss fights can be quite challenging. The graphics are neat and colorful, but they should of included the ...

Turtles in Time RS is fun, but it's not the remake you wanted. 0

There's no doubt that anyone who has played Turtles in Time looks back on that game with fond memories and warm nostalgia. Truly, Turtles in Time is a masterpiece of its era, and is easily one of the greatest games of all time. So what exactly is the issue with this modern day remake of this highly regarded beat 'em up? First and foremost, Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is a remake of the arcade version of Turtles in Time, which is significantly different than the SNES version - which is the vers...

its expensive, short and dull, why not port the SNES version? 0

Turtles in time re-shelled just dissapointed me so much. i really wanted to go back on a nostolgic trip back to this game and remember the good times i had playing with my brother and cousins. But in reality this game does not hold up well as all it is, is just a stupid beat em up that was meant to eat your quarters with cheap boss battles.  Turtles plays almost like it did when it came out in the arcades. Except now you can move around the plain 8-way so its even easier to fight the enemies and...

    Perfectly Adequate 0

Back in my younger days I was always called Anal Boy.  I had to beat every brawler that ever came out in the arcades, and had to spend my $20 in quarters at least once a month.  So I was anal about these games.  Now, I'm all Meh, but I bought the game and I like it.  Its just nothing special.  So when the blistering graphics and cock pounding action of the other bloodier multi-player fps' and sandbox games I own run out of steam, there is ye 'ole pizza box.  No I have not beaten this game yet.  ...

A good choice when you want to kill 10 minutes 0

Turtles in time is a very simple beat'em up game.  The graphics are sharp and competent but not mind blowing. The sound is very average and a better soundtrack could have really helped.    I found myself going back to re-shelled the same way I would go back to a shatter or super stardust hd. There are times when you don't want to save the entire wasteland or what have you and this is perfect for those times.  Re-shelled is an arcade game and it's simplicity is what draws me in for a "quickie". A Review For The Ages: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled 0

Yup, corny review title, but it's late, and I wanted to write a review for the game after just playing it. Turtles in Time Re-Shelled I describe as combat fun. Just a simple brawler. I liked the visual presentation being widescreen but the turtles did look pixelated on my tv around their edges. The music  does not offer variety, and there is no reference to the old Ninja Turtles theme song, as seen in the trailer.   During combat, I found the Y button kick attack to be a bit overpowering. I only...

    Get Re-Shelled with TMNT 0

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in time, was a great game when it was fi insertrst released in the early 1990s.  The re-shelled edition has finally hit Xbox Live Marketplace, right in the middle of "Summer of Arcade". The question is, how does it compare to the previous version? Well... there are definitely mixed results. I am one , who didn't play this game back when it was released. I was born in '92, so it was a tad before my time. That's not to say that i don't appreciate games that...
