Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Game » consists of 16 releases. Released Sep 11, 2011
Tekken's tag-team spin-off returns for its second round, building on the game engine of Tekken 6 with a whopping 44-character roster (later updated to 59).
You going to pick up Tekken TAG Tournament 2?
So Tekken Tag 2 is out today and I was seeing who is going to pick it up. I wasn't going to at first, but I've been watching some streams and the game looks great. I'm complete ass at 3D fighters, but this seems like one I would like to get decent at. I tried to played Tekken 6 a bit, but the online in the game was ass and it didn't motivate me much to play more. The online in this game is supposedly great and the offline modes look way better too when compared to T6.
So my fellow Bombers, you going to pick this game up?
Man I wish but my funds will be tied to Borderlands 2 when that comes out. Huge Tekken fan but I'll probably wait till the game goes on sale or gets price cut been feeling the burnout on Namco fighting games for awhile. Until they add something new to the series I'll sit back contempt on waiting. Felt the same way about the Soul Calibur series to.

I'm really torn... cause... it looks like goofy fun but... I'm also going to be playing DOA 5 soon and dunno how much I'd play it. I'd like to rent it but.... no places to do that.
I'm probably more excited about DOA 5... I'll leave it at that.

In case my avatar doesn't already give it away I am too.
It does look pretty cool but its still a Tekken ass Tekken game. I might get it eventually, but I'm not going to rush out and get it day one or anything.
I'm just waiting on it to come in the mail. I ordered it on Amazon in like June. Too many fighting games this year, but since this series is my favorite it's definitely not the one I'm going to skip.

I can agree with you there. Kinda curious how long this fighting game boom is going to last.
I haven't played a Tekken game since Tekken 3, but I'm really considering picking this one up. It looks like a lot of fun.
I picked up my preorder today. At a Gamestop. Once I got over that shame, I enjoyed being able to play as Jun for the first time since Tekken 2. Still learning my way around the other characters on the roster, but I am happy so far.
I guess one of us should start a Community tag thread soon, huh? Maybe even a GB tourney? I'm sure it will last longer than the chorus of crickets that is VF5FS on XBOX Live.
Last Tekken I played was Tekken 4 and I didn't even play it seriously. Tekken Tag Tournament 1 was the last Tekken I enjoyed, so yes, I'll be getting this one. I've been playing too much Street Fighter for the past years hehe!
Also, in terms of new content, maybe around 50% of the TTT2 content is new to me anyway since I wasn't able to play the versions with the new characters in it like Lili, Dragunov, Zafina, Bob, etc. :)
I'd like too, but I'm not good at fighting games. Is the single player fairly interesting when it comes to endings? Tekken 6 was sort of a bummer with the scenario mode.
I had every intention of picking it up, cant seem to find any confirmation of a "Force Mode" or whatever they call it these days though, and I never play these games online so it's slowly becoming a no
@BleedingStarX: If you're looking for something resembling a story there is the Fight Lab mode. You learn how to play and deal with cuh-raaaazy antics of your boss at the same time! Plus there's AI that scales up by rank if you really just feel like playing with yourself all the time.
I've been waiting for it to release since it's announcement. I doubt I'll be playing anything else for a long time, actually.

I'd be down for both of these. If there's no community thread yet in the next couple hours, I'll think of starting one.
I never really had an interest in Tekken games until I played SFxT. I really liked a lot of the characters but I know if I pick up TTT2 I'm going to get my ass handed to me. So I pick "maybe".
@MightyDuck: Yes. Some are goofy, others are kind of ambiguous. If you use Tag mode then it defaults to the leader in your two-man team when you beat the boss.
Also, contrary to reports around the net I haven't had as big a problem with the final boss of this game. Yes she has a couple of cheap delayed attacks, but nothing on the level of broken final bosses that can eliminate 50% HP in one hit (pick an SNK final boss), has a 10-second unskippable grab animation (Alpha-152 in DoA4) teleport around the screen (Seth in SSF4), or auto-regenerating health/auto-poisoning you whenever you get close (Hazama in BBCS).
@DocHaus: Thanks for the information. I hadn't heard much about the offline play, so this is good to hear. I may have to end up giving this game a go. I'm usually pretty awful when it comes to playing fighting games online.
I loved Tekken 5 and played through every character to get their "ending," despite having to fight Jinpachi everytime. Tekken 6 just didn't do it for me.
Yes. I'm not even that much of a Tekken fan, but I really wanna support their business and PR practices as much as I can. I mean, damn, they stuffed the fuck out of this game with characters (even though a lot of 'em are essentially skins of another character) and free dlc and when people bitched for more, Harada was essentially like 'chill the fuck out.' Any 'big' name in the industry who is not afraid to speak to fans like a real person and not some automated PR doll gets my full support.
Also, the game just looks fucking awesome.
@MightyDuck: One more thing, there's a Fight Lab mode which eases you into the gameplay with a story of a Combot being taught by its flamboyant boss/master to laugh at while you practice. I'm told you can later program different characters' moves into Combot and use them in battle yourself, but I haven't fiddled around with that mode yet.
Like a lot of players, Tekken 6 kinda burnt me out a little after the awesome Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection. But I can safely say, this is the best Tekkenever created.
From the graphics, the sheer amount of playable content downright to theexcellent (!!!) soundtrack, they outdid themselves. They learned a lot after the mistakes made in Tekken 6, and it shows.

That's why I was on the fence of buying it day 1, buying T6 on day 1 was a mistake but this one is worth it. I must sound like a PR guy now, but I can't believe a Tekken game that has actual good online, it even has online chats in the lobbies, they went all out.

Yeah, TTT2 is great. SC5 had the chat lobbies good netcode as well. Glad they brought it over to this game.
Not right away, but it and Dead or Alive 5 are definitely on my radar for potential Black Friday purchases. I love me some Tekken and this looks like a great iteration.
I'm probably going to rent it. I'm going to pick up Battle Royal (when it comes out) because it's a more casual fighting game, and I suck at anything other than those.
