    The company was founded in Spring 2006 by two university graduates who had previously worked on "student" games such as Cloud.

    thatgamecompany was founded in Spring 2006. The two founders, Jenova Chen and Kellee Santiago, were two graduates of the University Southern California Interactive Media MFA program.

    They had worked on some projects together like Cloud. The company currently consists of ten game developers and have developed the game flOw. In 2009 thatgamecompany released the critically acclaimed game Flower exclusively on PSN

    At E3 2010, thatgamecompany announced Journey as their next title. It is said to be released in late 2011 as a PSN exclusive. Eventually, it was released on March 6th 2012 for the PSN Plus users and a week later, March 13th, for everyone. Shortly after the release of Journey, Kellee Santiago announced she was moving on professionally from thatgamecompany. In June 2012 thatgamecompany announced it had become an independent entity.
