Oblivion Review
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was pretty fun for me on my first play through. There were some things that I though were missing though.
The graphics are wonderful. Truly a massive difference from previous games and the music is great as well. When I heard the re-done version of the Morrowind theme I almost cried, it reminded me of the great times I had with Morrowind and how much fun I'd have with Oblivion.
First off, the way they introduced combat was a little linear at first(in Morrowind they pretty much throw you out into the open world and let you try it yourself). However, once you get through all of the introduction, you can finally set off into the massive world.
One thing I was a little disappointed with was that the terrain seemed very meh at times. It's mostly grassland, mountain and caves(until you get to the Oblivion portals). The hit detection, as I have noticed, seems to have improved a lot since Morrowind, and I like the change of it. The first time I noticed this was when I decided to charge a bear with a dagger, and I noticed I was still doing damage. Where as you could be standing by someone in Morrowind and swinging at them all day doing nothing.
Another part of this game I didn't like was the small amount of weapons, armor, and spells. Those three things were some of the better aspect of Morrowind, but in Oblivion almost all of it is gone(however, thanks to mods you can download, that can be fixed). I mean, I miss throwing darts and shurikens at people, but I guess that it's unnecessary to have those small things.
I like the return of old types of armor, but some of them don't look as great as they use to(once again, mods can totally fix this). For Morrowind players, you'll notice a large difference.
But the game is still good, as the mass majority of guilds and an arena make up for it.
