i'm not sure if i just didn't notice it as much in the beginning, but i swear it looks like my character is actually getting smaller. just for clarification, my character is an imperial, so obviously i'm only comparing against other imperials, but my character is typically shorter than everyone else i encounter. again, not sure if this has always been the case, but i think i would have noticed even earlier on in the game.

Wouldn't surprise me considering Argonian's claws get longer as your level increase.

interesting. i wasn't aware that your character took on permanent changes as you leveled up. kind of makes sense, but unless my character has some bone deteriorating deficiency, his slight stature seems a bit unusual even for old age.

It's a character specific trait for Imperials. They get smaller as they age. By the time you get to level fifty, you'll be about 3 feet tall.

Obviously joking, but it seems unlikely that your character would be getting shorter. Is it possibly a change in armor? Or maybe you just chose a smaller character size in the beginning and didn't notice? Just seems more likely one of these rather than your character actually changing. But who knows? Skyrim abounds with possibility.

@Twitchey: Is that really true? That seems crazy, but it really is a neat detail if it is real.

I think its just the height of the race or whatever.  My Imperial is pretty short too but Ive noticed that my Khajit is short too.  Also Thalmors are pretty tall

The camera (when I'm playing as a high elf, the tallest race) seems to be inside their neck/chest. II wonder if there is a default camera height that doesn't take in to account your character height. I wish it were higher as I am supposed to be really tall, and infact my character model is much taller.

@the_OFFICIAL_jAPanese_teaBAG: well my character is short for an imperial. in fact, most imperial women tower over him. it's kind of hard to feel indomitable or even remotely threatening when you're always looking up at people.

also, i confirmed this using the third person camera, so it's pretty noticeable.

If it's bothering you, you might be able to scale up your character a little with the player.setscale command. Player.setscale 1 is default, so entering player.setscale 1.1 might give you a more comfortable height. Just keep playing around with minor adjustments until you find something you like.

Oh, uh, I guess that's only on the PC. Forgot about that. Not sure what platform you're on.

Put your character side by side with people in third person and see.

i did that. that's how i originally noticed my character was shorter than everyone else. it's not as distracting as i make it out to be. my character looks slightly italian anyway.

I've noticed a bug occasionally where High Elves lose their height permanently, watch one go to sleep and the model scales down, sometimes it gets stuck so it's entirely possible you've shrunk.

Maybe the heavy armor skill slightly compresses your spine with each level? Are you wearing heavy armor? If your character is the type that worries about height and wears heavy armor, it's possible that he's compensating for something. Does he always carry the biggest possible sword? Is he married? His wife might be in danger if she's seen the truth...
