So I just finished the Mind of Madness sidequest and thought it was pretty cool (although it took me forever to get past one of the trials.)

I was just wondering if anyone could clear up a question for me, which I'll put in spoilers in case anyone hasn't completed Oblivion/Shivering Isles.

Well 200 years have passed. Could it have changed since then?

Well he does reference a lot of the events of Oblivion.

@benjaebe: Well, he does mention being around for the Oblivion Crisis.

When you meet him the first time he says to Pelagius "you are the best Septim that has ever ruled. Except for that Martin fella. But he turned into a dragon god." followed up with "You know, I was there for the whole sordid affair. Marvelous time."

He also says that he inherited his title from himself.

"You know, I was there for that whole sordid affair. Marvelous times! Butterflies, blood, a Fox and severed head... Oh, and the cheese! To die for."

Butterflies: The room when entering the Shivering Isles in the Expansion.

Blood: Blood of the Daedra and Aedra from the portal quest Martin sends you on.

A Fox: The Gray Fox, leader of the Thieves Guild.

A severed head: The head of Mathieu Bellamont, the Dark Brotherhood traitor.

Someone posted that on gamefaqs and it makes a lot of sense.

Man thats pretty awesome, I wish I could go do that quest again just to see that. Is there a shrine to Sheogorath anywhere in the game or is that it?

There's that moment and a few others in the game that do a great job making reference to the events of Oblivion. Really great stuff.

just read one of the really cool nods to oblivion but don't want to spoil it. cant wait to dig into this game this week

Still slightly vexed that the Mind of Madness quest wasn't as wacky as the one in Oblivion.

Yeah, I thought it was him. I guess being Sheogorath is sorta like being Morpheus from Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. Even though another person assumes the role, the entity is the same. It's no so much a title as a complete transmutation into Sheogorath.

What was a real bummer is that the model for Sheogorath in Oblivion is much more detailed than it is in Skyrim. It just look so plain and simple...
