They are placed in chronological order according to the story. Here are trailers for them if you need a refresher (also they serve as an interesting view at how movie trailers have changed in the last decade or so).

It is pretty amazing to see how much the franchise has changed over the years. People like to hype up the Marvel Cinematic Universe but this franchise is way more impressive and crazy. The character of Han was never the main character of any of the films and yet he is the character with the most depth that goes through the most interesting arc. Each of these has something that makes them amazing and I could give an argument as to why each is the best in the franchise.

So which is your favorite entry and why? Are you excited for the seventh installment next year?

Or rather the first movie The Fast and The Furious, then 2 Fast 2 Furious, then FF:Tokyo Drift - are what I consider as the core of the F&F franchise. Because that's when these movies were still about the cars and the racing machismo, being over the top cheesy good fun. Still rewatch these classics on occasion to this day with my dad and younger brother.

    (4) Fast & Furious is objectively a piece of shit on all fronts. Yea I said it, come at me bro.

The 5 and 6 actually became decent action flicks in their own right even if they moved away from the cars I still enjoyed them.

No idea what the other 3 entries you mentioned even are.

Furious 6 is my favorite, with Fast Five in second. The rest I don't care for as much, though I do think Tokyo Drift is hilarious.

First off, thank you for calling it Furious 6 AND for including Better Luck Tomorrow. Respect. Secondly, F6 is probably my favorite of the bunch. Honestly though, I love every single one of them. One of my top three favorite franchises, hands down. Can't wait for FF7, despite all of the sad stuff behind the scenes.

I agree, this franchise might be the craziest success story I've ever seen, as they were heading straight for the DTV sequel route, before Tokyo Drift came along and somehow sparked life into it again, and now it rivals just about all of the other big names. The dedication and heart by everyone involved, even if they aren't the most skilled actors, is infectious. They look like they enjoy themselves so much that you can't help but root for them. Even now, they all seem so intent on doing honor to Paul Walker and everything that I'm cheering them on in an entirely different way. I really want FF7 to be a fantastic movie, just as a morale booster for everybody.

    Also, THIS IS BRAZIL.

Holy Shit, I had no idea Better Luck Tomorrow was actually connected. My favorites are 3, 5, and 6.

For me, I'd say it's a tie between Fast Five and Tokyo Drift, but I honestly love all of them. Fast Five was a fucking great action movie regardless of it's ties to the franchise. Tokyo Drift was just...I don't even know. It was just so much goddamn fun and I think it's the only movie besides the first one that did a damn near perfect job of being a good, dumb action movie while still maintaining the street-racing/car porn aspect that made the series popular to being with. Also, I don't give a fuck what anyone says, I think Bow Wow did great job in that movie. He sure as hell ain't winning an Oscar anytime soon, but he fits in perfectly if you ask me.

Fast Five is the highest point in the series so far. Just an incredible action movie all round. The only one that's genuinely bad is 2. If I had to pick an order in which I like them It would go 5,1, 6, 3, 4, 2.

Fast Five is still my favorite. 6 was pretty fantastic, too, but there was just something about 5 that made it so fun, plus I think it was paced better than 6. Also, how unexpectedly jaw-dropping that vault chase at the end was probably had something to do with it. I like the original because I have some nostalgia for it, and because there was nothing really like it at the time. 4 was alright...some decent action but nothing to make it stand out in the rest of the series. Never saw 2 or Tokyo Drift, and I doubt I ever will.

4 had the best race in the series though.

The only one that's genuinely bad is 2.

2 is so great because of the things that make it terrible. How can you not love a movie with such memorable dialogue.

Better Luck Tomorrow is connected in that it was a Justin Lin film and the Han character actually came from that movie, played by Sung Kang there also.

I... it's really hard to pick a favourite. Maybe 6? The only thing I really feel confident in saying is that 2 Fast is my least favourite.

@darthorange: That's the worst race of the entire series.

edit: well ok not true, the tunnel driving in the same movie was worse. :P

Furious 6 is my favorite, followed by Fast Five, with Tokyo Drift getting an honorable mention for somehow working as both the third and sixth movie in the series.

Fast Five is probably the answer I would give if I voted from my brain, but I went with my gut and voted for Fast & Furious.

Objectively, I'll concede that Fast & Furious is probably one of the bottom two in the main series, but I have some sort of weird affinity for it that I can't really explain (the tunnel racing is definitely the worst sequence in the entire franchise though).

Tokyo Drift is the pinnacle of the series in that it's basically American Initial D.

The Fast and the Furious is genuinely my favorite. I watched most of them recently and I think it's the best one. It's more down to earth and not over the top.I had no idea F&F had a prequel and Los Bandoleros existed. Mind blown!

    • Tokyo Drift easily as it has the least to do with the overarching story, until the newest ones. It was just a dumb fun movie.
    • Fast 5 is right there though, just an awesome movie from beginning to end.
    • 2F2F is actually a pretty good movie, I know Ryan and Jeff talk shit about it but I enjoy it more than the first one really.
    • 4 is fucking garbage. Boring, plot is stupid, cars aren't that cool, etc. Worst movie out of the 6 and hate that I have to watch it before getting to 5 and 6.

All the movies are pretty good or at least entertaining (except 4). Haven't seen any of the films not containing either Fast or Furious in the title.

I thought they were fine, stupid movies that were good for what they were but not great.

And then Fast 5 came out, and was basically the greatest thing ever.

But then 6 came out, and it was the greatest thing ever plus a goddamn tank and Jason Statham.

I can only assume that 7 will include cars in space, but until then 6 is very possibly my favorite movie period. It's amazing how a kind of mediocre street racing movie turned into one of the biggest and most ridiculous action franchises around, and has only the loosest possible connection to cars.

I think 6 is probably the best film, but Tokyo Drift is my favourite.

I loved 5 when I first saw it, but it drags on repeated watches. Too much boring inbetween stuff.

I really liked 2 Fast 2 Furious for it's over the top hollywood action scenes as well as the interactions between the characters Brian and Roman and James Remar playing the hard ass customs agent.
